Title: Re: Stand baby..... stand. Post by T And T Garage on 10/10/17 at 12:04:33 He can't say that... well, he can, but he's gonna lose a lot of money in lawsuits!! The National Anthem is just a song. The flag is just a piece of cloth. How dense do you have to be to make this an issue??? The rights given to us by the Constitution ALLOW for us to protest. They DO NOT ALLOW anyone to force you into standing for a SONG! This is nothing but distraction. Idiotic. Time-wasting. Childish distraction. |

Title: Re: Stand baby..... stand. Post by WebsterMark on 10/10/17 at 12:52:34 The NFL will fine a player for wearing the wrong socks or attaching a patch to their jersey so I'm pretty sure they can tell them to do whatever. Is it the NFL or is it MLB that has a special exemption to anti-trust laws? However, the right lawyer can change challenge anything and I say it's 50/50 that by Sunday, they'll be an injunction issued. Who would have believed a golfer used the ADA to sue the PGA Tour and ride a cart instead of walking. I wonder if the league got with reps of the players association and showed them the declining viewership numbers. Sooner or later, money will win out and the 'moral stand' some of them are taking will suddenly not seem so important when their paycheck is at stake. |

Title: Re: Stand baby..... stand. Post by Serowbot on 10/10/17 at 12:58:27 That may be true... ... but something seems wrong with being forced to respect the flag... Isn't act act rendered meaningless if it is not sincerely felt?... Patriotism by force?... is imposed Nationalism... I hate to make the Nazism comparison, but it is there... |

Title: Re: Stand baby..... stand. Post by justin_o_guy2 on 10/10/17 at 13:03:39 Educate the viewers to understand what forcing someone to Participate in What They Don't Agree with Means. The NFL will fine a player for wearing the wrong socks or attaching a patch to their jersey so I'm pretty sure they can tell them to do whatever. Is it the NFL or is it MLB that has a special exemption to anti-trust laws? The NFL has contractual agreements with companies. Wearing the wrong socks with the wrong makers mark conflicts with that. The wrong headphones, etc. Why the NFL would not agree with them wearing a patch for the slain cops, IDK. So, Bot, you understand how wrong it is to force someone to participate in making a statement that they don't agree with? I'm surprised. I'm doubly surprised that you can say I'm so far right that I'm a Nazi. You included me in the people Off the cliff. You didn't Say Nazi and my name in the same sentence. I'm waiting for you to admit I'm reasonable. |

Title: Re: Stand baby..... stand. Post by WebsterMark on 10/10/17 at 13:07:15 Athletes are entertainers and the team owners hired the Commissioner to run the show. Really, if you break it down to basics, the players are actors in an unscripted play. If they won't do what the director or producer wants, they can be fired. In True Grit, Lucky Ned declines the offer of a good attorney, correctly saying what he needs is "a good judge.". All a player has to do is find a judge who hates Trump (plenty of those around) and all of a sudden, the league's ability to run their show the way they want, is tossed out. As far as meaningless, I would equate it to the fake outrage over Civil War statues. No one was ever really upset with a statue. They were just a place for birds to land on. Likewise, none of these who are kneeling, raising a fist etc... were swelling with pride all 5000 times they stood for it before every game before all this started. |

Title: Re: Stand baby..... stand. Post by justin_o_guy2 on 10/10/17 at 13:27:40 They are hired to play football. Not make a political statement. If someone tells them they Must make a statement AND tell them What statement they must make That's a little bit Unamerican. And at the Same Time They are being Called Unamerican For not wanting to be forced to do what they are being told. If it's so Unscripted Howcum it's so predictable? Instead of playing football, they start with What? Anyone care to point out the freedoms our military have secured for us in the last few decades? And what freedoms did they give up to play football? Is it Right to hold a contract away from someone if they have the talent to do a job if they won't agree to dance to your tune? Ask Weinstein. |

Title: Re: Stand baby..... stand. Post by Trippah on 10/10/17 at 14:21:39 When I was a recruit at Ft. Jackson back in the late 60's they (The Army) insisted we salute the Commanding general's car if it passed by, wether he was in it or not. Coming back from my latest KP detail, I saw the car, empty except driver, come by and I simply decided it was stupid, so I declined to salute. The driver stopped, took my name and within minutes the Drill sergeant was marching me up to the 1st Sergeant and then onto the Co commander (Hadn't seen him since the first day). He yelled he was going to give me an article 15 and I thanked him, and told him if I got enough maybeee I wouldn't get sent to Nam. ;D He withdrew the threat, and months later I was in the beautiful Central Highlands..... ;) Or, in short version, the guy that pays calls the shots. :o :o |

I grew up military... and even as a child, you had to stop in place, wherever you were, and stand for reveille and the anthem at 7am and 5pm... Servicemen had to salute,... kids didn't... we just stood like statues. "Dammit, my ice-cream's melting"... ;D |

This, is the real issue... forget mass shootings, N.Korea, hurricanes, healthcare, the economy, climate change, pollution, war.... The Supreme Court has said not standing, or even flag burning, is protected speech... Being forced to stand is unconstitutional... ...but,... that don't matter,... right?... The Constitution only matters when you agree with it... |

Title: Re: Stand baby..... stand. Post by Trippah on 10/10/17 at 16:29:33 Do you think the obligatory armbands will have "T" or elephants on them?? :D (Only teasing - for now). Yeah, I remember stopping for Taps when driving off Fort Bragg. If in uniform, had to exit the vehicle, face the flag(or music) and salute. Kinda a nice pause before hitting the traffic. OOps, first you had to stop the vehicle before exiting. :o |

Title: Re: Stand baby..... stand. Post by MnSpring on 10/10/17 at 18:02:50 The NFL event has cause a lot of talk about, ‘Rights’. I would look at it this way. Everyone has a, ‘Right’, to agree or disagree with something’. And no one should be, ‘Forced’, to a, Political, opinion. That said, if one is, ‘Hired’, for a Job, and one knows what the, ’rules’, of that job are. They get, ‘Hired’, on the ability to, do’ those things. Take a UPS, (and like), Driver. (Don’t know what all the rules are, just guessing) Have to speak English, Have a D.L. Have to be able to walk. Have to be able to lift 50 pounds. How about a, over the road semi Truck driver. Have to have a CDL, (or be able to get one), and pass a physical/drug, test. How about a Pilot, can, NOT, have a malady, which would cause them to pass out. (Etc, ya get the point) Now, a NFL Player, Professing a, political, opinion, by standing/keeling/etc. ‘Would Be’, their choice. It is not in the, ‘rules’, that need to, ‘have to’, as terms of their, employment, it is in the, ‘protocol’, of their employment. Which, to or not to, be enforced, is the decision/choice, of the one person, who is the, ‘head', of that Business. And YES, NFL, IS, a Business. If a decision was made, to enforce a, ‘protocol’, which they are bound to. (as to the terms of their employment) While, Getting PAID, by a Business, for a Job. That does Not, interfere, with any, ‘Right’s’, they have as to a Political opinion. When they are NOT, getting, PAID, for that Job. When not being, Paid, by the Business, and on their day off, they can march in ANY, rainbow/blm protest event and nothing is said. So, I believe, the opinions, about whether a NFL Player, stands/sits/kneels/etc. Should go to the person who, ‘can’, enforce, the, ‘protocol’, yet so far, has chosen, not to. As to, “Lawsuits” ? So someone is in a Wheel Chair, has No D.L. (or can’t get one), Gets turned down, for a ‘Job’, as a Package Delivery Driver/deliverer. Then they can SUE ????? Well anybody can SUE, anybody, For Anything today, (A Cake Baker comes to mind). Sure does seem like they were, FORCED, to believe, in someone else's, ‘Political’, view. |

Actually pg, HE'S the one who said that to me.....(he said he read something like it online and agrees with it) He MUST stand at attention for colors. He MUST salute a superior. He MUST obey orders. He knows that, as a Marine, he doesn't have the same rights as those he serves for - but he understands the reasons why and respects the rights of others. From his perspective (overseas), he's finding this all hilarious (as are the locals he's talked to). As I've said many times, this country is becoming a joke - now it seems the Japanese locals agree with me. #MAGA Best regards,[/quote] |

Title: Re: Stand baby..... stand. Post by justin_o_guy2 on 10/11/17 at 10:15:51 They signed up with rules Players Should Stand Early on, players didn't take the field before the hoopla. I Get the Workplace Rules thing. A UPS employee can be fired for being seen drinking in uniform. Even IF they're finished for the day and it's just too far to go home and change. I understand and agree with certain rules, but when did America, land of the free, become a place where we set up rules to force someone to make a political statement? If taking a knee is a political statement So is not taking a knee. And IF those people Are forced to stand And By Standing They are saying whatever it is people seem outraged by them Not saying How Genuine Is it? The whole thing is just dumb. Why get butthurt over someone not standing? And, wow, the quarterback who Stood got Creamed because the linemen were butthurt over him standing. Rights and respect for me Not for the So lefty.. |

Title: Re: Stand baby..... stand. Post by MnSpring on 10/11/17 at 17:31:15 Yep, Lifting 50 pounds, is not a political statement. Yet, (again), the NFL, IS a BUSINESS ! Perhaps, in the, ‘rules’, it should say: ’NO Political Statements’. Just like they state, “ no, advertisement, for ……………” |
