Title: Oil leak from engine
Post by sandmanred on 10/21/17 at 09:41:18

I'm getting a few drips under the bike in the garage.  Trying to track down the source I pulled the drive pulley and it looks like the culprit might be the seal on the drive shaft.  There's a pretty good spray of oil all over the area surrounding the pulley and there was a fairly fresh drip in the red circle that i smeared away with my finger tip (second pic below).

I see the seal is only $10 and looks pretty easy to get at.  Any cautions or other advice?

Check the bolts that run through the pegs.
They clamp the case shut.
Wrenches on both sides.

You beat me to it JOG. give the engine a good degreasing, tighten the engine bolts and check in a week.

NOW the picture loads..

Okay, clean stuff up, don't hit That with pressure,
See what happens,,
But check the peg bolts anyway.

My screen is small, what is going on there? Looks like something smacked it.

Nothing got smacked as far as I can tell, the red circled area was a drip that I smeared away with my finger.

Well you've got it apart, you could replace the seal (IF I remember it's only about $9.00) be aware that there is also an O-ring seal that might need changing.,it fits inside the spacer O-ring 09280-24010 (about $4.00),oil seal 09283-36003.,fits outside the spacer.

Whatever you do end up doing make sure that you cover all bases. Doing it over will be no fun.

batman, thx for the heads up on the o-ring, I stopped looking at the parts diagram when I saw the seal.  I will do them both.
