Title: Turn LePage...

So how about this?

Not sure how this governor thinks it's OK to ignore/disenfranchise 60% of the voting public, but hey... it seems to be the republican way lately.

Fiscal responsibility and The Entitled don't usually fit comfortably in the same box.

So a governor who looks at the fiscal result of a policy and rejects it is betraying the people of his state?

So a governor who doesn't work for his constituents is not actually doing his job?

See what I did there?

The job of a governor is to work for his state, not just his party.  The Maine legislature has made several proposals in the past - all vetoed.

This is yet another example of party politics taking precedent over democracy.

Saying no doesn't mean he's not working for them. When a parent tells a child no ice cream for breakfast, aren't they working for their behalf?

It would be no different than a ballot measure proposal for cutting business taxes.  If the majority of your constituents want it, it's your job to try and make it happen.

Now I get that it's going to cost money, but that's obviously not lepage's reason for the veto.  It's pretty blatant that it's partisan politics and not much more.  Remember, a large portion of this is financed at the federal level.

It would be different if this had never come up before, but it has, several times and the Maine legislature have put several proposals through.  The people are in favor if it - even if it raises taxes (which hasn't been fleshed out yet).
