Title: Deductions........
Post by raydawg on 11/16/17 at 12:17:00

The house bill: For individuals, it axes a number of popular deductions, including the state and local tax deduction, medical expenses deduction and student loan deductions but would double the standard deduction and condense the seven tax brackets into four.

Question: Do businesses get to deduct ALL taxes, on their income?

If yes, then why are not folk allowed the same, after all, are we not in business for ourselves?

On a personal level, I come out ahead, because my standard (deduction)  is doubled. I have no state tax, never meet the threshold to claim medical, nor do I have student loans.
So it looks like about 2 grand for the wife and I.

Check the math since they are also recommending eliminating the personal exemptions.  The closest I came to the SALT is when I moved to NY state and still missed by a bit (mandatory IRA withdraw) & capital gains of stocks to help buy the new house.
As a vet, who then after active duty did 17 years in the reserves, am thankful that while giving more to big corporations and saying how much they appreciate our service, still screw us by taking a dollar of Social Security Retirement for every two dollars I get for my military retirement - gee I get to partially fund myself.  I live to serve, much like a turkey. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Trippah.....let me ask you this question:

Do you think having a woman in office, as president, might give us a unique opportunity, and chance, at solving some of the issues that have stymied our governmental policies at fixing things?

Note: I exclude Hillary, as she has a sack bigger than most of the guys up there already.

PS: I am not to keen on the idea of giving my "money" to help me, to a employer first.....
With the idea it will trickle down to me.

If a "tax" break/consideration is considered a good idea to simulate growth, then why not give it to me directly?

I will use the analogy of a collected tax, earmarked for a local cause, collected locally (in state) having to pass through Washington/DC first, before it returns back to its need.....

Tell me, does that ring of inefficiency, or just another opportunity for another hand, in the cookie jar?

Seriously ray, how do you have the gall to post things like:

Yep, typical.  Thanks to guys like you we have "you didn't build that" and "what difference does it make" - two of the biggest, out of context quotes of all time.  And what's really sad is, most of your kind don't care to find out the rest of it - because it makes you feel good and fits your narrative.

The local native populations (Seneca, Mohawk, etc) used an interesting political strategy - the clans were  matrilineal - meaning the gals were the family (clan) heads and ran them.  Our Olde English system is of course Patrilineal - the guys were the leaders.  In time of War, the Natives would select a war "chief" who would lead the tribe's war effort.
This division actually makes a lot of sense.  Women worked together to build their community and meet the needs of shelter and edible foods, as well as the core human goal of having and raising children.  The Men went hunting, and as need, fought the wars (usually raiding party size).  This allowed each sex to maximize their natural tendencies.  SO, the answer is, yes, I think a woman as President would be fine.  She would be more attuned to what the families of America need -rather than the presently outrageous "Defense" budget now wasting enormous wealth killing every sand dune in Eurasia which has ruled our budgets most of my 70 years.

As to defense budget, it does provide subsistence, it really is a good example of trickle down economy.
It also shows a reckless disregard of what the product instills upon our thoughts, of a peaceful resolution and co-habitations

Think of it this was......

In a disagreement, a person tells you their intent is for a peaceful resolution to the existing problem between the two of you.....
While revealing a six shooter strapped to their waist.

Tell me, what is your minds natural inclination at this point......
Relaxed and opened, or closed and defensive?

The only one I believe is a Trump supporter in the same vein the liberals support their folk at all cost, is Web.....

And I think even that is weak.

But when you saturate yourself with negativity NEWS, your perspective is no longer valid, but tainted to the point of propaganda and indoctrination, useless, as far a repairing and fixing the ills of our nation, which are many, and new ones arise daily, sad.

Hmmm... I'm curious ray...  You say that you don't support our current president, but I think you probably voted for him.  Fair enough, we all make mistakes.

If that is indeed the case, then who do you support? I realize there's not a presidential race for a while, but looking back on the entire republican field and Bernie - whose ideals do you support?

Now, I don't really expect an answer, but I do honestly wonder.

I think I make it pretty obvious who and what I support - but you just seem to be anti-liberal instead of pro-anything.  In fact, I think the only other thing you post besides fox news clips are religious texts and clap trap of the like.

Again, I don't expect a response other than you talking about me (and how you think I'm an idiot) to someone else - but hey, at least you'll read it and it might just make you think.

This is very true.  You have zero skin in the game - why do you feel qualified to comment??
I was hoping for Bernie until he sold out to Hillary.

Ha!  Sorry, it wasn't just him - it was the bought and paid for Congress and virtually every other politician.

Seriously, WTF does that even mean - "PC doctrine"??

Being politically correct has a thousand different nuances to it.  To say you're against being PC can be interpreted to mean you want to call all minorities their most racist nicknames....  Also, without any PC, we'd be celebrating the behaviour of the harveys and the moores of the world.

Enough of the fox news talking points, huh?  There is no "war on Christmas" or Christians or family values or whites or anything else they want you to fear.

Why argue with such a disingenuous clown Ray?
He twists things and pretends you said something and then tries to make you defend it .
But I've wiped the floor with him until he hasn't got the guts to even reply to me.
He's. An. Embarrassment.

Thanks Jog, spot on, again.

LOL - and yet no reply to me.... very telling.

If you've followed along ray, you'd know the steps leading up to my current reply/comment embargo on others in this little forum.

You've not done the same thing.  You've never made it clear.  If you did, I'd respect your wishes.

I guess that's why I asked you what I did.  You seem to go with the wind and not stand for anything.  It's kinda sad.

But you keep doing you....

Just in case anyone here is interested in the actual topic, I currently must deduct %24 of my annual income to not owe.

I'm not sure how this new format will effect me in the end but no state deductions will hit me for sure and I may have to cut up top %30 next year and set it aside for taxes.  My tax analyst recommends I put aside %36 of my income next year just to be safe.
