How is someone like me, who never saw a stock bike he wouldn't change, supposed to do anything with this? There isn't one horizontal line on the entire bike/frame. And it's every manufacturer!

The frame behind the rear shock could be changed easily - but you are likely going to have to use their fuel tank.....there is almost nothing that can be done easily with that area. I guess we are in a similar situation as the folks who worked on cars when the frame went away and cars became "uni-body". All the new bikes have great engines and handle well - not so much for looks if you don't like the sport bike or transformer image.

Perhaps you need to look for a dual sport chassis.....they may be a bit easier to work with - or just work on older (and cheaper) bikes.

I don't have access to the photos from where I am right now, but look at the Kawasaki Z900 and its frame. Then look how how that same frame was adapted for the Z900RS...lots of horizontal lines. Kawasaki simply filled the gap and swapped out the subframe. Modular design.

BTW, I love that new 400. Can't wait to see if it spawns a Z400RS model.

Anything behind the top of rear shock mount should be a bolt on section for ease of maintenance! It nothing a sawsall can't fix !

'Older and cheaper' is the best choice. The next rant will be about 'weight' ! I'd love to cut 100lbs off the Bonneville, Vulcan S, and Shadow RS. 8-)
