The Governor of Kentucky brought up some great points:

Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin called on Americans Friday to "wake up" and recognize that school shootings are a "cultural problem."

"We have become desensitized to death, we have become desensitized to killing, we have become desensitized to empathy for our fellow man and it's coming at an extraordinary price and we have got to look at the root causes of this," Bevin told The Associated Press.

But then....

The governor declared a statewide day of prayer Sunday for the grief-stricken county. It was reminiscent of his response to a wave of urban gun violence last year. Bevin called then on the power of prayer to help combat Louisville's rising murder rate, and urged people to form prayer groups to walk high-crime neighborhoods. Skeptics wondered aloud whether that would deter gun-wielding thugs.

Enough of the payer - it's obviously not working.

Action, not prayer, needs to happen. Just look at the gun laws in KY - kind of a joke.

Yeah, this country needs to wake the F up.

So, what do you think will happen? pray, sing, pray, sing... repeat?
No time spent discussing the issue? or just shout at each other "hands up, don't shoot"?

I hear you pleading for a solution, but not offering one.
At this point, I can only think of 1 solution but it would only limit the carnage, not eliminate entirely.
School shootings (by students) are mainly due to unsecured weapons.
All weapons not in possession of the registered owner should be locked away.

Staff can provide the gun and the training.
School system gets the detectors.
Or maybe you have a better answer..

I’m with JOG.
The major obstacle to overcome, is the, PC mantra.

Most schools have already identified who, in their school, is pro and anti gun.
and as long as the pro gun people, tow the line, do not rock the boat, are not vocal about that ‘right’, they will be tolerated.
As soon as they, stand up, (and their are many of them), they will be punished, demoted, and even fired.

If that attitude is dismissed, then.
Select staff who are, honest, stable, Citizens, to arm themselves.
Encourage them to take a class/s to further their knowledge.
That will protect from a immediate threat.

Now Move to preemptive.
Instead of staffed, Metal sensors at every door.
(Which will soon be thwarted by cleaver kids that want to)
Return to a, ‘Before PC’.
Identify, mentally deranged people, and deal with it.

Now to: “…funded by?…”.
Well the firearm, will be ‘funded’ by the person that already OWNS it.
Then the on going ‘carry’ Classes, can be ‘funded’ by, using the same funds, that were used for classes in, ‘under water basket weaving’.

And finally, remove, the mandate:
“… no Guns in Schools…”
Then the ‘Crazy’, or, ’Terrorist’, will KNOW,
It’s NOT, like shooting fish in a barrel.

my Los Angeles high school in the 60s had armed guards patrolling
it.
this was a time of anti Vietnam/anti draft/draft card burning protests(not to leave out Watts, the SBLA and Kent State)
we were not armed "The Man" was..

Raise your hand if you believe the schools where rich kids go are unsafe.
If you don't believe that armed people are there, sound off.
How many people who we pay in dc want you disarmed and They have armed guards?

Mr.and Mrs. America, turn them all in.
