I think you are assuming too much here. Go back and look at the demographics of who voted for Obama, in his first term, many of the same folks who voted for Trump. Explain to me why he lost his majority after the midterms? I think this is not the Tea Party folk, no, but the same basic folk who might have elected Ross Perot if he had stayed in. The middle is getting larger, while the extremes are shrinking. The conservative zealots have caused havoc by trying to drag it more right, but they are not nearly as well "armed" as the left wing liberals of Hollywood, etc, that cause its leadership to be pulled left. The vocals do all the shouting, the middle elects the winner. ;D |
