Title: Who is Correct ?
Post by MnSpring on 02/11/18 at 10:47:47

City Slicker (CS), vs Country Mouse (CM)

CM to CS: ‘Lookie here, I got me a new Axe, an’t she purdy.
balanced just right, finest steel, the wood is perfect.'

SC to CM: ‘Wake up, be educated, join the 21 century.
You don’t need a Axe,  just turn up the thermostat’

SC to CM:  ‘ Look at this newest, i-phone, I can play games on it,
I can look at the internet, I can even know the weather outside’

CM to SC: ‘Why don’t you just,
look at the sky,  to tell the Weather.

Who is Correct ?

both

Both are, right, and both are, wrong.

The City Slicker needs to know, how valuable a Axe is.
And the Country mouse needs to know how valuable a thermostat is.

       Their lies the problem.
If you don’t know a Axe,  You are a Stupid.
If you don’t know a Thermostat, you are a  Moron.

Ya see Spring, you can always try to drive a square peg through a round hole, ya might even make it through, however, what you are left with really usn’t What you sought.

It’s no diff than liberals preaching tolerance, while censoring free speak and expression.
Or, a right to lifer killing a abortion doctor in the name of saving lives....

We have succumbed to a one size fits all, with an either, or, choice, outcome......
That by itself removes our uniqueness of who we are, and those who don’t extend that knowledge and acceptance first will never know true peace from real tolerance.

Not everyone has a thermostat.
They have another kind of heat.
Millions of people live where there is no place to harvest wood.
Calling either right or wrong, or stupid, is impossible.
Both are ignorant of some things the other takes for granted.

Another PERFECT  way of saying it !

Now, how are, both, of them, to learn,
the others thoughts ?

Any response, from the,
"Ya don't know what a Thermostat is, you must be a, Moron"
People ?

How would it better their lives to know what the other knows?
If I live in the boonies and cut my firewood, why do I need to understand how a thermostat works?

Now, if someone lives in a communist country and has no knowledge that anyone lives differently, for them to be exposed to a capitalist society that has personal freedom instead of being a slave to a dehumanizing system would be worthwhile.

I think the iPhone being able to indicate weather before it arrives would be more useful to both than the axe, or the games.

When Doppler became available online it was a huge help to farmers in my area.

But they are both correct to answer the question.

The dog is still barking, as the caravan moves on.....
Life waits for no one.

Keep beating a dead horse, to what benefit?
The horse no longer feels the leather.
It lacks any capacity to pull the plow in your mind....
Yet, something lacks in our lives that we think we can find, or restore, by beating it.

This message board examples that energy perfectly.......

Lets use the oft repeated excuse of justification, those who do not know of the past, are doomed to repeat it.

Really, perhaps, but that would take living in the present, in order to pull that off.
Kinda hard when you dragging yesterday, into today  ;D

Well if one thinks a, AXE, is in the past.
  Try this way.

A person, can travel 20+ Miles,
Though the Maze of Skyways, Tunnels, Stores, ETC, in Mpls  MN.
With OUT, any kind of Map or Compass.
They Just have, ‘Learned’ that.

Another person, can travel, 20+ Miles,
through a dense woods, in N. Minn.
again with out a Map, or a Compass.
It’s a learned Skill set.

Does either, have the Need, to do the other thing?
Maybay, maybe not.

But it certainly Very Foolish, for the,
’Skyway’, knowledgeable person to tell
the, ’woods’ knowledgeable person,
what they, MUST  do.
(And Visa/Versa)

At what point did anyone say "MUST" do prior to the previous post?

Nothing about the original post, or the replies from what I can tell indicate that one or the other is to force a method.

Are we now asking to modify the perception-based question of "whos correct" into another "Who should be forced to use X method?" because those are two totally different questions.

Truly unfortunate, that the idea,
of, 2 different skill sets,
representing two, different,
skills/political parties/living locations/etc.
Cannot be grasped.

Result, (both ways), of the, ’sides’, saying:
“You are Wrong, because I  don’t do that”

Title: Re: Who is Correct ?

Who said the other was wrong?

All the posts I have read say they were both right.  Can you quote where I missed someone calling the other wrong?

Title: Re: Who is Correct ?

If two people have opposing positions, isn't it inescapably obvious that each sees the other as
Wrong?

Title: Re: Who is Correct ?
Post by Eegore on 02/14/18 at 17:13:13

No its hardly "inescapable", if I drive to work on a highway and you drive through town you are not inescapably wrong, you just drive through town.

I do not agree with many things that people do but I do not think those things are wrong.  I don't think its "Wrong" for a guy to use an axe over a thermostat, I do not believe thermostat people think the axe people are doing anything wrong and want to force them to drop the axe and use a thermostat.

That wasn't even the question in the original post.

The point is that the original post asked who is correct and is now being altered to state one person is forcing the other to do something.

Those are two totally different scenarios - if Axe man says Thermostat man "MUST" use an axe then he is wrong.  Not right (correct) as originally evaluated when nobody said he would be forcing his actions on others.

So by changing the question from who's method is correct to who should force the other to stop doing what they want we directly change the community answers from "Both are correct" to "Both are wrong"

The "MUST do" changed the question entirely.

 I agree.

However MtSpring changed the equation when he later added that one person would make the other, or at least expect the other to use their method.  That changed the question from "Who is correct?" to:

Who is correct in making another use their way?

agreed, and neither are exclusive, someone could have a great internet connection and smartphone use and knowledge and appreciate a good axe and use that axe for wood for heat or for whatever else. and the other way around someone could not need either for anything.

Yea !   Ya Bet-ya.

Just like someone in Chicago, could believe in severely  restricting Freedoms,
as a, ‘Perfect’, solution to, ‘gun crime’.
(Especially those, Suicides in a  Parking Lot)

And if someone does not believe in that.
They are most, CERTAINLY, a  Moron.

how does that address anything I said?

edit:  also, in your original post the hypothetical situation went both ways, you know, when the Country guy with the axe told the city slicker that he should just look outside for the weather.

Also, I'm more or less agreeing with you, that to each their  own, but you are for some reason, going out of your way to twist my words and mock me?

must be a conservative thing, can't take yes for an answer
