Title: What has changed......??? Post by raydawg on 02/15/18 at 10:50:34 We see this tragic event in Florida stirring up so much attention, yet....... I see folks jockeying to promote something they want. Yet.....??? I think if you step back and read the comments, the news stories, all the associated coverage of this sad happening, dragging the past, forward, as relevant, predicting the future, based on the present, unless...... One constant element, is visible, on display, through all this energy.... It won't bring back one child. It won't wipe away one tear. It won't erase history. It won't fix the future. Yet, its fostered. It's justified. It's, accepted...... It might very well be the cause. It causes ill will. It causes blindness. It causes fear. It destroys all who use it. It breeds more of itself..... It's a choice to empower it. To use it. To allow it. We ALL hold, the fix. |

Title: Re: What has changed......??? Post by T And T Garage on 02/15/18 at 12:39:08 Nothing has changed - that's the problem ray. There has been nothing done in terms of common sense gun control in this country since, what, the 80's? This $hit will just continue with our politicians and citizens sending out their "thoughts and prayers". Tell me - who needs an AR15? Who needs thousands of rounds of ammunition? Who needs more than a couple guns in total? I've had it. Enough is enough. The Second Amendment is NOT intended to allow unfettered/unlimited gun ownership. If you want to follow it to the letter, then you must be part of a well regulated militia - period. |

Its Perfectaly Clear, NO one needs a 500.00 Golf Driver. When a 50.00 one from a mart-mart will work just as well. No one needs a, Red Car. Don't need Several Fast food restaurants in a town. Title: Re: What has changed......??? Post by raydawg on 02/15/18 at 17:12:01 Never saw this stuff growing up, we had guns too. Is it the new high capacity weapons, that’s at fault? Mass carnage, quickly, is what’s alluring? We use to eat dinner, mom, dad, siblings, every night, at a dinner table. We ate and talked. We counseled and shared, cried and laughed. Now, you can get high capacity streaming of ugly events around the world, hate, death, intolerance, unfettered and unsubstantiated news and lies on social media, as you sit in your room, eating fast food. That’s changed. |

Title: Re: What has changed......??? Post by MnSpring on 02/15/18 at 17:18:09 Was gonna start another subject, then saw this. So will answer. A, ‘FIX’ idea on Guns. Which may, fix, other things also. For the last 34, have been ‘certified’, and 4 years before that, ‘helped’. With FSTC, (Firearms Safety Training Class). Years ago, in a 30 Mile radius, their were 15 Classes, of 50 (+/-) students, and some areas 2 times a year. Today, 8 classes, average 25 students, and most once a year. (This is mostly 11-14 year olds) 30+ years ago, started class, with: ‘How many here, have shot a firearm” 95% (+/-) would raise their hand, out of 50-60 students. Last year, was the FIRST time the % was 0. (22 Students) Last year, 2%, year before that 3%, and going down almost every year for the last 20 years. So, the, ’TEACHING’, that firearms, are a, Sport, Recreation, Defense, and are, NOT BAD ! Has gone, Down. Why? I believe, it is because, the, ‘Brady Bunch’, and Fairy Sprinkling Snowflake, type of Lies. Where, Parents/Kids, are TAUGHT, GUNS, are BAD. So Now something that is, BAD, that makes people inclined to one want to Play with it even More. (I hear a, ‘What’, from Chicago) Think: Your 12, You know where the keys to the car are, do you think, you are just going to hop in and drive to the D.Q. ? (Yes some do, but not very many) Your 12, you Know, their is a Chain Saw in the ahead, you going to take it out and cut down that tree all by yourself. ? Your 12, their is a elect power Wood Saw, in the garage. Ya gust gonna grab it, and start cutting boards with it. ? (Most Probably, not, in most cases) Your 12, (or 22), and have NEVER gone to a FSTC. You find a ‘gun’. The, ‘FORBIDDEN” Fruit (Hey, hows that, ‘war on Drugs’, going) Most Probably, WILL, in most cases, play with it, not knowing nothing about it. So, KNOWING, about a firearm, understanding it, respecting it, and NOT, being, ‘Afraid’ of it, BECAUSE YOU ARE TO TO BE. Their is NO, reset, button on a Gun. And part of this class it to Know and UNDERSTAND, Mortality. Then, their will be less of it, from someone who does NOT, understand it. But, Hey, just keep, taking away Freedom, and Knowledge, and Education, from Citizens, Like in Il. That, will Stop, ALL Gun Crime ! (What you say, it Hasn’t ?) Oh, Must be someone else’s fault |

Title: Re: What has changed......??? Post by Eegore on 02/15/18 at 17:41:55 Mass erosion of mental health services may be a contributing factor. Trying to blame everyone else and not getting off the couch to do something productive might be also. |

Title: Re: What has changed......??? Post by justin_o_guy2 on 02/15/18 at 18:19:28 Cry all you want, but I've WATCHED society come unhinged. We took God out of school. We made destroying life in the womb Normal. Children got uncontrollable. We enacted Zero Tolerance How's it working out? Hate what you want, but American society, as it was, worked a lot better. |

Title: Re: What has changed......??? Post by justin_o_guy2 on 02/16/18 at 08:04:50 Is it a mental health issue if you're just a total loser a55hole? Not every person suffering from mental illness is a killer. Not all killers are mentally ILL. Some people are angry at life. Being a human being is not easy for all of us. It's gonna be interesting to hear what he has to say. And I can't wait to see who he gets for a lawyer |

Title: Re: What has changed......??? Post by WebsterMark on 02/16/18 at 08:50:18 The Constitution is amendable for that reason. The founders foresaw that times would change. What would they think of kids killing kids with assault rifles?... Huh A good question. What would they say? They had just fought off their own oppressive government to gain independence. They wrote a document whose main objective is limiting the power of their new government and giving power to the people through a Republic. Weapons in the hands of the citizenry is ultimate control against an oppressive government rising violently against it's people. But today IS different, no one can dispute that. No one imagined the power of the internet 30 years ago much less 200. But my previous sentence is powerful; "Weapons in the hands of the citizenry is ultimate control against an oppressive government rising violently against it's people.". It would be very difficult if not impossible for the USA to turn into North Korea or Nazi Germany for example. We cannot give that away. What will probably come out of this shooting is moving the age in some states from 18 to 21. That would do something, but the Las Vegas shooter was 50+ years old so that's no guarantee age limits will do anything. The 'See something, Say something' strategy is not entirely useless, but close. Quite a few people said something and that went nowhere. I do think that's a strategy that could be improved on. Maybe it could make a significant difference, but its a policy that's ripe for abuse also. I don't know the answer. Yes, access by all to powerful weapons is too easy, but the solution is equally risky. Freedoms have consequences. The 4th amendment is "responsible" for more deaths than the 2nd amendment. Imagine if the feds could just break down doors and confiscate guns, drugs, randomly search for possible criminals, use illegally obtained evidence etc... They'd catch plenty of criminals and we'd be safer. What if the 1st amendment was tossed aside? Wouldn't that 'save lives' too? We had a court just strike down an immigration policy that we all know would have kept out a certain percentage of criminals. If we got rid of all the amendments, we'd be 'safer' wouldn't we? We have to make incremental improvements in safety without giving away the freedoms that make us who we are. |

Title: Re: What has changed......??? Post by WebsterMark on 02/16/18 at 09:36:38 I'm not willing to give up high capacity. When needed, it's too valuable. So, okay, semi auto federal age restriction to 21. For me, that's it at this point. Start looking at the people and stop blaming guns and the NRA which is in reality, millions of people. Remember, on the day of that shooting, 300 million plus guns were not used to shoot students in a school by a disturbed kid. Only one was. |

Title: Re: What has changed......??? Post by justin_o_guy2 on 02/16/18 at 09:44:41 I just can't believe that Gun Free Zone sign didn't work. |

Title: Re: What has changed......??? Post by WebsterMark on 02/16/18 at 09:58:43 If I'm carrying, I ignore any sign like that. What I'd like to see happen is someone who's injured in a shooting sue the owner who puts a sign like that up because by default, they are guaranteeing the safety of the building's occupants. |

Title: Re: What has changed......??? Post by Serowbot on 02/16/18 at 10:10:02 Youz guyz is nutz... I live in the wild west, just 70 miles from the border where all those dangerous illegals are coming from,... and I have never carried a gun, ... no one I know carries a gun. And no one I know has ever been shot. I do know a guy that shot himself in the leg accidentally,... and I know two guys that committed suicide with a gun (both were teen children of friends). |

If it's a place where you have no option but to go , yeah, if they demand you be unable to defend yourself, they have taken the responsibility. A restaurant, well, you go and spend your money where you're welcome. In school, the government has taken control over the abilities of the people. The teachers and staff are left without recourse. The ability to protect themselves and their students is taken away. Who would have thought that a sign saying it's a gun free zone would ever fail? Maybe that whole idea needs to be ditched and allow teachers to get certified and armed. |

Title: Re: What has changed......??? Post by WebsterMark on 02/16/18 at 10:42:54 We're not nutz. We just see the world differently and we act differently. We are no more dangerous to society than you are. |
