He retired. He wasn't gonna go in there and get shot. He probably shat hizself when he realized that Today is the end of his employment..

Not much of a good guy if he would not help the kids.
Worse,,
Because THAT GUY was there and unwilling, a person willing couldn't be there.
He's old, marking time, waiting to retire. He had a gravy job,
Until it went bad.

Yeah, good guys with guns are the answer.
Do you want to call the cops when a bad guy shows up?

Because THEY'RE GOOD GUYS WITH GUNS?

Not clear.
Was it the, 'GUN' that did not go in,
therefore it was the, 'GUNS' fault.

Or was it a Person,
(who by description, was not a, 'good', guy),
that did not go in,
therefore it was a, 'persons', fault.

Maybe Deputy Peterson was out sick the day they had the training session that mentioned that the perpetrators of these kind of shootings almost always either surrender or commit suicide the instant they are confronted by anyone that has the capacity to shoot back.

Too bad. You'd think a SRO with enough time in law enforcement to retire the day after this happened would would know that. :(
