I still feel the right to keep and bear arms for the sake of a well regulated militia against the threat of tyranny, is strictly symbolic.
Weapons back in those days were pretty much the same if purchased privately, or issued for the governments interest.

To extend this reasoning, into today’s terms, it would mean private citizens could buy bombers, fighter jets, submarines, nukes, etc....

Makes a automatic rifle seem like a pea shooter ;D

Given that the Taliban have handed both Russia and the US our butts with only automatic weapons, RPG's and IED...you don't need the billion dollar jet or trillion dollar Aircraft carrier; you fight for your neighborhood which you know better than the other guy (and have wealthy backers who help you buy weapons and supplies). :o

Can you imagine when overpasses all over the country start falling down, rail lines broken, internet towers disabled.

100% correct Trip. Unless the plan was nuking the country into a waste land, we could defend ourselves against our military if they turned against us.

This scenario is why we have a 2nd Amendment. It's as valuable to us as any of the others.

Once the progressives get done turning this country into a lawless, third world sh*thole, we wont need a second amendment, or even a constitution for that matter.

You'll be able to buy an AR, or a fully automatic AK, at any outdoor flea market for a couple of hundred bucks just like you can in a lot of African and middle eastern countries.

That "gun show loophole" is gonna be an unintended consequence of their agenda that they didn't see coming I'll bet.

I don't know but I do know an oppressive government thinks twice after Waco and Ruby Ridge. I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing. We are governed by our own permission, we willingly grant authority over ourselves.....up to a point.

Many nations allowed themselves to be overcome by themselves until it was to late to turn back.

I don't think many "resist" folks really understand the gravity of their actions.

They are forcing a standoff based on their "beliefs" as laws are very clear, on matters like this, not to mention how the success of our democracy rest upon that very foundation, not regressing to mob mentality and vigilante threats you see on campuses no less, goodness.....

Folks are becoming that of which they profess to hate!

If anyone feels the "need" to possess guns because they're threatened by the government - that's paranoia, not Second Amendment exercise.

Why is it so hard for fervent conservatives to see that this isn't the 1940's? Heck, it's not even the 1980's!

Do they really have that little faith in our country? Do they live in that much fear of the government?
