I've been to Korea a few times and have taken part in intelligence briefings.  I'd say there's a chance that in NK the acceptable outcome when Obama was president was a minimized destabilization of the NK regime and their immediate leadership capabilities. Emphasis on capability.

With Trump (and really its the military command structure at this time combined with the S.A. Sea conventions as they are now) that the acceptable outcome is the elimination of the NK regime and the removal of their leadership capabilities.  Emphasis on removal.

This is speculative based off experience, I have no evidence or references.

Wonder if the:
"..."The explosion from the Sept. 3 test had such power that the existing tunnels within the underground testing site might have caved in," said Kim So-gu, head researcher at the Korea Seismological Institute...."

Had anything to do with the decision?

I wondered about that but the talks were already in motion before 03 Sept.

Also it takes all of 10 seconds to find contradictory information so who knows:

I can read the words, but I'm not sure I get the gist of what you are saying.

say there's a chance that in NK the acceptable outcome when Obama was president was a minimized destabilization of the NK regime and their immediate leadership capabilities.

Please elaborate.
What's
Minimized destabilization?

What is the path to immediate leadership capabilities?

Minimized destabilization is using only the amount of force necessary to stop the perceived current leadership from controlling national policy.

Minimized elimination means using only the amount of force necessary to kill or permanently incarcerate the leadership that is perceived as controlling national policy.

Removing Assad is destabilization, killing Hussein is elimination.

Absolutely,  Opposing Views on Web Sites is normal.

Yet when I look at the site you quoted, I find words like:
“…hard to know for sure…”
“…facilities are probably intact…”
“…is likely still capable of…”
“…but some experts are doubtful….”

Then this:
“…Major media outlets reported on April 25, 2018 that large portions of North Korea’s underground nuclear test facility had collapsed and were unusable….”
Does that mean, ‘Fake’, News ?

So , which site is correct ?     Don’t know.

Wish the MEDIA  would not LIE  so much !
Used to be, they reported, what, ‘acutely’, happened in a event.
Then let the people, reading the Facts, made a decision.
If a Media, said a Opinion, it was called a, Editorial.

Unlike Today where one has to look at which, Media,
Is  Lying, or telling the truth.
