Title: Are you as surprised as I?

https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2018/may/7/climate-skeptics-more-eco-friendly-global-warming-/

he skeptics were the more likely than the “highly concerned” to recycle, use public transportation and reusable shopping bags, and buy eco-friendly products.

“Belief in climate change predicted support for government policies to combat climate change, but did not generally translate to individual-level, self-reported pro-environmental behavior,” said the paper.

Why? Even the researchers were stumped, although it’s possible that skeptics may place more emphasis on personal responsibility than government action.

“These results suggest that different groups may prefer different strategies for addressing climate change,” said the paper. “Thus, belief in climate change does not appear to be a necessary or sufficient condition for pro-environmental behavior, indicating that changing skeptical Americans’ minds need not be a top priority for climate policymakers.”

As Pacific Standard’s Tom Jacobs put it, “remember that conservatism prizes individual action over collective efforts.”

“So while they may assert disbelief in order to stave off coercive (in their view) actions by the government, many could take pride in doing what they can do on a personal basis,” he said in a Friday post.

Mr. Gore, a leading climate-change activist, has long come under fire for his carbon-emitting ways, such as burning 21 times more kilowatt hours annually at his Nashville mansion than the average U.S. household, according to a 2017 study by the National Center for Public Policy Research.

His swimming pool alone uses enough electricity to power six average homes for a year, the study said.

Mr. Gore told CNN last year that he leads a “carbon-free lifestyle to the maximum extent possible,” pointing out that he doesn’t own a private jet and that he buys carbon offsets to balance his home and flights on Southwest Airlines.

"...The skeptics were the more likely than the “highly concerned” to recycle, use public transportation and reusable ..."

Gee, the 'conservatives', have been doing/saying that for YEARS  now.

But the, 'libby' Fairy Dust Sprinkling Snowflakes,
        didn't,  See, or Listen !

The part about the 'highly concerned' being environmental pigs doesn't surprise me. I live in the heart of tree hugger country, and they drive big SUVs, live in climate controlled 3,000 sq ft homes, and drive their perfectly healthy children 1 mile to soccer practice.

I was surprised that other "deniers" like me were also practicing conservationism. I learned conservationism from my parents - leave a room, then turn the light off!  In my family, part of learning how to drive a car (a stick), included knowing how to do MPG calculations, and to write that down. If the MPGs start going down, I need to lift the hood to find out why. I learned to budget fuel not by dollars, but by gallons. If I go over my 10 gallons budget, then I need to drive less and bike more.

I had a conversation today about my hometowns recycling initiative.  The issue was that no actual recycling center was in the town so recyclables were trucked 44 miles to the closest center thus  causing more cost than return, both carbon footprint and actual dollars.

I grew up with a wood burning stove, and every year for as far back as I can recall I have planted trees to help replace those we use.

I asked how many people locally have planted trees or otherwise mitigated waste themselves and out of about 30 not a single person did.  They sure had a lot to say about local power costs, green energy etc. but not a word about what they did themselves.

I for one am not surprised by the findings.

Also Not Surprised,
that the people that SEE the Truth,
are Much better care keepers of this Spaceship,
              than the Fariy Dust Sprinklers.

   What is surprising,
is the fact that it was even published !

Like the CDC study that shows guns used defensively at rates that the Grabbers don't want to admit.
It doesn't fit the narrative
And
Shows the Deniers aren't the heartless troglodytes the left WANT to see us as.

It shows something else, but only for the
Between the lines people..

Like cops are not a
Legally Protected group
So
It's OKAY to hate them.

Lefties justify behavior by
It's not required
It's not illegal

While conservatives just do what they know is reasonable.

I recycle every battery, no matter if it's from a car advertising gimmick that showed up in the mail or what,I store and dispose of fluids, oil, antifreeze, whatever,  and I have 12 acres. Nobody would Ever know what I did,
But me.
