It's not just the threats of sacking the special counsel investigating the government where Trump mirrors Nixon.

It appears that Trump is looking for a war with Iran for his own political machinations. Nixon sent 22,000 US soldiers to die unnecessarily in Viet Nam fighting for a further 5 years by sabotaging the Paris peace talks for his own nefarious political purposes.

War with Iran might be the Republican's go to strategy when the domestic political need arises, but it seems bizarre that yet again US soldiers are ready to be slaughtered for no real reason.

As I has noted before, it is a mainstay of Republican Politics.  Look at the Red States, then look up the location of the major military installations.  Overlap, What a surprise.  Now, you and I might wonder why soldiers still vote overwhelmingly for the guys who send them off to wars.
It (Patriotism) is drilled into them, often from childhood and when they join the military for real, they find the path to advancement is in a war zone. The accept version of Patriotism is" my country right or wrong."
Unless you wan to be the head honcho, then be born wealthy and with bone spurs. ;)

Look at ALL of our military ventures since 9/11.

Remember the list General Wesley Clarke made public?

Obama was told destroy Libya and did.
Will Trump follow the instructions set up so long ago?

The policy was determined right after 9/11.

Will Trump play along?

From what I have seen I would have to lean towards Yes. I hope not, but the moves made so far support conflict, IMO.
