Title: It never made sense to me Post by justin_o_guy2 on 06/01/18 at 10:38:57 Someone who is dying and nothing is available for them, but there Is a potential treatment Being developed, But, not tested and not approved, So, they die. Why not let them TRY the unproven treatment? Aaand Trump signs it into law. Good going, Mr.Just in it for Yourself. |

Title: Re: It never made sense to me Post by Eegore on 06/01/18 at 11:15:27 In most cases that person could have tried. In actuality almost all, (about 98%) of experimental requests that meet the parameters in the new law are already approved. For instance they must have concluded a Phase 1 clinical trial and remain under investigation by the FDA. Almost all of the cases where someone dies due to denial of an experimental drug is because the drug company declined to administer the product. 38 states already have a law that does the same thing. There are concerns that fraud or cash-grab companies will capitalize on the Federal level ease of implementation, and there should be. I'm glad he did it but as usual the claims are exaggerated. Very few terminally ill people are denied experimental treatment by law, and this wont save "hundreds of Thousands" of lives unless we see an astronomical uptick in terminally ill patients, or pretty much all drug companies start handing their experimentals out like candy. |

Title: Re: It never made sense to me Post by LostArtist on 06/01/18 at 14:29:57 but it's a great headline though! good press for Trump! just what he needs for a law that doesn't really do much, seriously, look into it and tell me what you find. The FDA actually does a pretty good job of processing and allowing trial drugs to be used. and the other road blocks, the insurance and drug companies, aren't addressed in this bill. "Yet these laws “do not ensure that manufacturers will provide the drug or that insurance companies will cover the cost,” according to a policy report from Rice University. Obtaining the medicines from manufacturers can be more cumbersome than going through the Food and Drug Administration’s existing program, the report found." https://www.nytimes.com/2018/05/30/us/politics/fact-check-trump-right-to-try-law-.html so it's a great Headline---- yet, :-/ |

Would that be the same as: “All 57 States” “You can keep your Doctor” “Health Care Costs will go Down” “'These days, I look in the mirror and I have to admit, I'm not the strapping young Muslim socialist that I used to be.'' And they go ON and ON and ON and ON. Interesting, did anyone, Notice ? The 80% say: “Funniest Obama…” “Dumbest Trump …” Please Explain that, Snowflakes ! Why are the, Quotes/Sayings, NOT called the SAME ????????? |

Thanks for reinforcing, my point. So, YOU, think Berry is/was funny. and YOU, think Trump, is/was dumb. (Kinna think everyone here guessed that) But ya know, I think the Opposite. (Again think everyone here knows that also) SO, WHY, is 80% + of the Media, Telling one is funny, and the other is dumb ? At least, why don’t they SAY they are Editorializing ? |

Title: Re: It never made sense to me Post by MnSpring on 06/02/18 at 10:02:40 "...Because they believe they are just stating facts....." Well then, someone is, ’telling’ them that is a fact. and they repeat it, because they are to LAZY, to verify it. Or someone is ‘telling’ them, and they, agree with the lie, and continue to lie. Wonder which it is ? |

Title: Re: It never made sense to me Post by WebsterMark on 06/03/18 at 04:28:50 If you take away all the noise Trump self-generates and is created by a liberal dominated media, and just look at metrics, the US is doing great. Way better than past few administrations. You'd be hard pressed to find anything of significance that's hurting the average American more now than a couple years ago. It just that all the good gets lost in the Trump mushroom cloud that surrounds him. |

Title: Re: It never made sense to me Post by Eegore on 06/04/18 at 07:13:16 I think the real issue is why we get caught up trying to say which president is worse instead of discussing if the current law, and future results are beneficial. This law can be beneficial, but when there's abuse and that predatory action is countered by saying there was 20 cases of abuse but hundreds of thousands of lives saved, that's a problem. I spent this weekend working in a medical center and most staff are against the bill as they have seen more problems from experimental drugs than benefits. OBGYN groups see a ton of birth defects associated with phase 1 clinical trials. I find it most interesting that the very people that are anti-large pharma are the most vocal about not removing the FDA from pharmaceutical trials. https://www.asco.org/sites/new-www.asco.org/files/content-files/February-2018-Right-to-Try-Coalition-Letter.pdf |
