Has anyone ever lowered the "profile" of their stock seat?
I happen to have a stock seat that is very rough shape. The foam pad is great shape, true form still, but the cover has no integrity left!

The plastic seat pan is in good solid shape with the factory hardware still intact

Thanks for this thread madmikesmech, I was going to post something similar. Thank you to TJ for the links. Reading through them helped with seeing the pieces of foam separate from the pan.

I was planning to try and lower my seat significantly to try and make a cobra style seat and pillion. It seems I would have to modify the passenger portion of the seat. I’m thinking that I could use the stock front part of the seat and cut away the passenger portion (I have an ‘05 with the one-piece seat). Then I could possibly attach a piece of steel to shape out the foam for the passenger part. I’m hoping to use the stock foam mostly. I have some upholstery foam laying around so I can use that if needed.

I will post up pics when I make the mods but it won’t be until after the season, late possibly mid October.

The rear fender for the 2 piece seat is different than the fender for the 1 piece seat. The later fender has a screw to secure the back of the seat - the fender for the 2 piece seat has a metal loop to hold the rear seat in place.

Working with the stock seat pan seems the easy way to go.....you will only need to work with the padding and cover - you won't be trying to make seat pans and mounts.

Dave, that’s my plan try and use the stock seat pan as is. But after seeing the foam separate from the pan there are two bumps on the fender part that need shaved down, or cut and flattened. Not sure how it will play out but I’m excited to try. My wife is a seamstress by hobby and has experience with sewing vinyl.
