Title: Keys
Post by verslagen1 on 08/06/18 at 22:16:48

Anybody with a 2000 or a 2006 with a stock key?

In fact any year will help somebody out there.

Can you tell me the letter on your key?

The blanks are different for that span of years.

Here is 86-88 and 95-04:

Ans here is what they say is for 05-17.

Not sure if they are really different or these are stock images...that's just what the website said where this came from.  If it has them listed and categorized differently for these two different groups, something must be different.  Images look exactly the same to me so this must be a "stock photo" situation.

But...this is the actual ILCO list of some available blanks for our bikes...what we can't tell you is which blank YOUR bike is keyed for.

No markings on my oem key.

I had an extra key made for my 09, smith used a "JMA" brand blank YAMA 20D. It was a little thick so I filed it a little thinner and works fine.

Looks like a YH51 or an F series pictured above.

No markings on my OEM keys but I have the little tag that came with it and the number starts with a D.
This is on an 05.

My 95 came with ilco YH49.  My 96 came with original F code.  Hope this helps.

I see for 2005 you have D listed as the code. Mine is a 2005 and the key code starts with an E.

My 2011 is an "E"

The little tag with my 07 has D on it but no marks on the keys.

My OEM key is at the house but the local locksmith made a handful of keys for me using a Silca DAT15DP blank for my 2006. I actually prefer them over my OEM.

The picture of the Keys says YH48/49/50/51 for C/D/E/F
which doesn't agree with the ilco list.

I have a 2016 LS650.  I have two sets of keys.  One set has a black plastic handle that reads "Boulevard".  The other set has a black plastic handle that reads "Suzuki".  The set labeled "Boulevard" has no identifying markings.  The set labeled "Suzuki" has a black plastic tag on the key ring that has the identifier "C121" embossed in the tag.

The main keys look like the key identified as "E" on stewmill's post (top groove thinner than bottom groove) but the tag says they should look like the key identified as "C" on stewmill's post (top groove and bottom groove nominally the same width).

Hope this info helps.

If it looks like a duck then it must be a duck.
The key code is usually a letter followed by 5 digits which represent the cut.  And not all cuts are usable, 2 or 3 levels different in progression.  Or the key could get stuck in the lock.
