Title: Lefty challenge... Post by Serowbot on 08/24/18 at 09:19:22 Okay,.. Lefty's only. I challenge you all to be civil. No personal insults. And no finger pointing at others who insult you. Just on-topic comments. You can still say insulting things about political figures, just not members on this site. Can we do it?... I'm going to try. Eegore... You can be as insulting as you like... ;D ;D ;D |

Title: Re: Lefty challenge... Post by T And T Garage on 08/24/18 at 09:24:38 I'm in! I will not name-call others in the TT, but I can't guarantee that to public figures. ;) |

Title: Re: Lefty challenge... Post by Eegore on 08/24/18 at 14:46:26 "Eegore... You can be as insulting as you like." That's not really my style. Besides I still haven't received a description of what a "lefty" is defined as. I've always used the term to describe left-hand dominant humans but as of the past year or so I have stopped using the term and use the entire phrase "Left hand dominant" to avoid confusion or political inference. |

I believe that's what he meant, that since you do not insult, you can write freely as before :) |

Title: Re: Lefty challenge... Post by eau de sauvage on 08/24/18 at 19:35:41 Well this is what I asked for, or at least halfway there but yes, you can jot down the date and time now and I'll be in this one too. I'd suggest this become a sticky: This is basically a voluntary version of what I said should be compulsory, so prolly a better idea. Put my name on the list and btw make this a sticky. |

Title: Re: Lefty challenge... Post by MnSpring on 08/25/18 at 10:37:45 Typical Nothing burger. First post, (no #), stating the rules for posting on this topic. # 1: a I’ll do it, yet nothing else. # 2: a question. # 3: a comment on the question post. # 4: a drive by # 5: a personal insult at a opposite political party member. # 6: a, I’ll do it, yet nothing else. So, to respond to the questions in post # 2. “…Besides I still haven’t received a description of what a “lefty” is defined as…” I will comment, on my personal opinion. I Believe a, “Ultra-Lefty’, is someone who condemns the current POTUS, regardless what the decision/action it is. It could be changing the light bulb on his desk, while standing on the right side, and the, “Ultra-Lefty’, would go nuts, and say the current POTUS, should be impeached, because he should have stood on the Left side. Also believes, the past POTUS, never did anything wrong, and absolutely, totally, every decision/action he did, was perfectly correct. A, “Lefty’, is someone, that does all of the above, (except providing negative comments, on which side of the desk the current POTUS should have stood) A, “Left leaning’, person is someone who believes something different than a, ‘Right leaning’, person on some decisions/actions of the current POTUS. Also a, “Left leaning’, person, and a, ‘Right leaning’, person, may agree on some decisions of the current POTUS. |

Title: Re: Lefty challenge... Post by MnSpring on 08/25/18 at 10:55:12 Okay,.. Lefty's only. I challenge you all to be civil. In reading the start about this ‘thread’. Does it mean, this thread is for, ‘lefty’s’, only ? And only ‘lefty’s’ are allowed to post ? Or does it mean, only, ‘Lefty’s’ are challenged to be civil ? Can the original poster explain further ? |

Title: Re: Lefty challenge... Post by Eegore on 08/25/18 at 12:01:18 Thanks for describing your definitions of a lefty. Is it correlated to the standing President, as in people who were absolutely against Obama in all aspects of his decisions such as light bulb changing, were they "Ultra-lefties" at that time and very pro-Bush? |

At the time of Obama being the President. their was a, much, Much, MUCH, SMALLER group of people, (who did Not have 80% + of the Media behind them), who would condemn, everything he did, including which side of the desk he would stand on to change a light bulb. And no, I would not consider those people to be, ‘Ultra-Lefties’, or ‘Lefties’. Using the very Universal Idea, that a ‘Conservative’ POV, is Right of center, to a xxx %. And the same Universal Idea, that, a ‘liberal/Progressive’, POV, is Left of center, to a xxx %. (The xxx & percent is depending , if it is, ‘raydawg or TT’, saying something, as they are both, ‘left’ of center, just very contrasting, degrees or % to the Left of center) [/quote] Rather clear, one is, 'Left Leaning', another is, 'Ultra-Lefty". |

Title: Re: Lefty challenge... Post by Eegore on 08/25/18 at 15:26:35 What is Center? When you say Universal Idea do you mean Universal Theme? Lefties are left of the Universal Theme? If so what does that even mean? Does news reporting quantity and content alter the definition, why is it important how many people were concerned about Presidential light bulb changing skills when defining what a lefty is? |

I appealed only to the Left,.. so I wouldn't get a post like this, questioning every detail... I'm just asking for civility... Feel free to join in if you like. or not if you don't. I think if one side refuses to give back, the other will see the futility in trying to egg them on. It would work either way,... if Righty's or Lefty's did it. ...and no... I won't have rules about topics, drive-bys, language, and I'm not even going to try to moderate political insults. I'm not even moderating personal insults... just asking for voluntary self control... Let's be gentlemen... No bitchin' at each other,.. ...and especially no bitchin' at me... ;D Some here have agreed to give it a try... I hope for the best. Peace, Your favourite snowflake, Serow |

Title: Re: Lefty challenge... Post by eau de sauvage on 08/25/18 at 20:05:39 @MnSpring said... Does it mean, this thread is for, ‘lefty’s’, only ? And only ‘lefty’s’ are allowed to post ? Or does it mean, only, ‘Lefty’s’ are challenged to be civil ? Can the original poster explain further ? OK I'll have a crack at answering this and I think I speak for all those who responded in the spirit of the thread, (I'm sure they'll correct me if I'm wrong)... As I already suggested a while back that we all agree to a set of rules that we also agree to have enforced, however the result of that was that you and those with similar views, suggested that you were not willing to have this imposed. We then went back to where we are today. So I see that Serowbot has taken the initiative and made the assumption that people like you and JoG and your posting friends, would not agree in this thread to cut out the personal abuse. It seemed like a fair assumption but I see no requirement for you, or JoG or Webster to refrain from joining in. If you or JoG or Webster do not join in to this pledge, then that would sort of vindicate Serowbot's assumption. So why don't you prove him wrong? and agree to cut the personal abuse. The choice is yours. |
