Title: Re: Idiocracy... Post by WebsterMark on 09/05/18 at 08:11:47 Who do you believe, multi star general or Bob Woodward? Many of the people he attributes those quotes to “swear they never said those words.” Woodworth never actually got direct quotes from those people he quoted other people who said that’s what they heard them say. So again who are you going to believe ? |

I'm not sure how much to believe about the book. That notwithstanding, the sheer fact that it even enters the realm of possibility boggles the mind. Some of these descriptions are almost too crazy to believe... but when you know the reputation of the man that they're put up against.. well, they could actually be true. That speaks volumes about the man. This is the problem with trump. Yeah, he says he doesn't care and that it's all a "witch hunt" - but he's never given any signs to back that up. His actions, his tweets, his demeanor, his (near total) lack of press conferences, his incoherent rambling off prompter and his asinine rallys all show who he is. That's why the public could believe these quotes from Woodward are (mostly) believable. As a comparison - look at the wild claims against Obama. Well, there pretty much weren't any. Besides the occasional "he's a Muslim", the man was presidential, ran his office accordingly and never had to try and defend himself. The fact that trump is in constant defense mode says a lot. |

Title: Re: Idiocracy... Post by Serowbot on 09/05/18 at 08:50:14 They pretty much have to deny it,... but that don't mean they didn't say it. The denials stretch credulity more than the accusations... I'll believe Woodward over Trump any day... Reputation matters. |

Title: Re: Idiocracy... Post by WebsterMark on 09/05/18 at 09:23:53 So when a four star (5 star?) General says the quote below... “The contemptuous words about the President attributed to me in Woodward's book were never uttered by me or in my presence,” ...you would prefer to believe a reporter who didn't hear the quote, but relied on what a source whom he won't reveal told him he hear? |

I'd say of the two, I'd believe Mad Dog... But, given his background compared to trumps (Marine vs deferment boy), I can imagine there's not a lot of respect shown to trump the man, but more to the office of president. |

How many books did the secret service agent write? How many Pulitzer Prizes was the secret service agent involved with? Yeah, I'm sure hillary's no picnic. But at the very least, her public persona is nowhere nears as toxic as trump's. His reputation precedes him, and he just reinforces it every day. Don't forget, Woodward was not too kind to Obama either. |

Title: Re: Idiocracy... Post by eau de sauvage on 09/05/18 at 09:54:44 “It’s not that you’re lying or you’re bad or anything like that,” Mr. Dowd told him. “Given your daily intake — just look what we’ve done this afternoon.” Mr. Dowd handed him a letter addressed to Mr. Mueller asserting the president’s right to terminate the investigation. Mr. Trump loved it. The day after, a gleeful Mr. Trump called Mr. Dowd. “I slept like a rock,” the president said. “I love that letter.” The above line says it all. Down treats trump like a little child and gives him a letter that he knows is all it takes to pacify him and he says next day, I loved it, sleep like a rock. He's like a heroin addict where they only care about the next hit. Trump is addicted to his narcissism, Dowd gives him a hit in the form of a letter and Trump can get to sleep. By March, little progress had been made with Mr. Mueller. On March 5, Mr. Dowd met with the special counsel and one of his deputies and explained why he was trying to keep Mr. Trump away from them. “I’m not going to sit there and let him look like an idiot,” he said. Later that month, Mr. Dowd told Mr. Trump why he should avoid an interview: “It’s either that or an orange jumpsuit.” “I’m not going to sit there and let him look like an idiot,” he said. Later that month, Mr. Dowd told Mr. Trump why he should avoid an interview: “It’s either that or an orange jumpsuit.” Good to see some droll humour from Reince... the witching hour, roffle. He called the president’s bedroom—where he watches cable news—“the devil’s workshop,” and referred to the hours when Trump tweets as “the witching hour.” |

Title: Re: Idiocracy... Post by WebsterMark on 09/05/18 at 09:55:56 Did you know Sew that Woodwards book about John Belushi was strongly attacked by those who worked with him? That Woodward's description of movie scenes shot were completely inaccurate? Belushi's manager actually said after reading the book, he could believe Nixon was innocent! Kind of a joke, but kind of not. Its just as likely Woodward is an aging celebrity uncomfortable with fading into the limelight. |

Title: Re: Idiocracy... Post by eau de sauvage on 09/05/18 at 10:02:02 Earlier, Dowd told Mueller why he didn’t want Trump to testify. “I’m not going to sit there and let him look like an idiot. And you publish that transcript, because everything leaks in Washington, and the guys overseas are going to say, ‘I told you he was an idiot. I told you he was a goddarn dumbbell. What are we dealing with this idiot for?’” This is just an appetiser for what they'll say when Trump is gone and no one cares any longer. No one doubts the veracity of Woodward. |

Title: Re: Idiocracy... Post by eau de sauvage on 09/05/18 at 10:10:46 Oh look at this article, priceless. Look, we’re not enabling an American Putin here. We’re just babysitting the most impotent chief executive we’ll ever see, and locking in some good judges before the Democrats sweep us out. No, it's actually not. Look at the wage gap and the less than sluggish growth. The only ones doing well are the corporations (just a continuation from Obama) and the top 1%. The middle class is dying. Inflation is washing out any measly wage increases. This country is politically divided more rigidly than ever. Cracks are showing and it's not the party of trump that's breaking through. Just because you say "America is in a better position.." doesn't make it true. We're not. |

Title: Re: Idiocracy... Post by eau de sauvage on 09/05/18 at 10:40:00 @T and T, I was waiting to see the reaction from the Trumpsterteers! to see if they'd still post as Trump's emissaries to the Savage Political Forum. I knew they would of course but I wanted to see it. They actually are so identified with Trump that they will share his humiliation when it comes. I'm happy to wait for that day because you know what they are going to say. I mean when they speak like Trump do you really think there's any point in giving them the facts? As if they care. |

Plus, if you're crediting anything on that site to trump - well, you're only kind of fooling yourself. Seriously, just look at his twitter feed. |
