2016, the highest suicide rate (19.72) was among adults between 45 and 54 years of age. The second highest rate (18.98) occurred in those 85 years or older. Younger groups have had consistently lower suicide rates than middle-aged and older adults. In 2016, adolescents and young adults aged 15 to 24 had a suicide rate of 13.15.

I'm glad you brought this up, I had used the CDC estimated averages of attempt rates since that what we needed to use at my last job.

Successful suicide rates show a significantly different trend.

Not really..
Not even almost..
When you are trying to kill someone and they fail, there are lots of potential reasons.
Someone saw and stopped you.
Victim mounted a defense.
You missed.

Etc,,

If you're trying to kill yourself and fail, it's not uncommon for that to be a
Cry for help.
Maybe you didn't want dead as bad as you thought.
Throwing yourself out the window is a good way to get dead, but in a one story building?
Naah.
