If you read Dinsh Dezosa's book "What is great about America" he points out that Gandhi and the people of India would lie down on Rail Road tracks to stop commerce. The reason they did this is because of the innate GOODNESS of western culture. we of course would not run over them. However? Would they be that bold if that train had a swastika on the front of it? I think not. These people aren't stupid. There is a reason they are all carrying a child. We will not shoot, throw tear gas or anything else at them. Additionally the "Outcry for the Children" would be ridiculous. Forget about the fact that they all just took these kids on a 2,500 mile hike in the heat with no food or water. I know we want to say this was a Grass Roots movement from Honduras. Perhaps it was but it has morphed into a huge political issue and it grew because of the possibilities. Everyone jumped on the band wagon and have turned this into another circus. This is just another politicized mess with the Republicans stoking the fires of fear and the Democrats stoking the fires of fear also. There is nothing that will come of any good to the American people or the people on this march. IMHO, If we really care about these people then the attention has to be helping people where they are. Sorry but the March is just a drop in the bucket. It's an emotional event but does not help many. And as we all know "When emotions run high, Intelligence runs low". I typically travel to Nicaragua once or twice a year. We go for a week the cost to you is about $1,500 and that includes your room and board at the mission house.
