Title: Bent float?
Post by zevenenergie on 08/18/20 at 08:59:04

I bought another savage, that runs poorly when the engine is warm.

I bought a new battery and I am checking the carburettor.
I see something strange.
The floater seems bent.  :-/

Can anyone confirm that and how can I fix this?
Can it be the reason that it runs poorly went the engine is warm.

The float on the right, should look like the float on the left. It would appear that the PO tried to adjust float height by bending the float arm. Time to order new parts.

The floater IS bent.

FIFY..

Id have to TRY to fix it,, because , well,, I cant help myself,,
But Id be well prepared to hang it on the wall and get a new one,..

That was done by someone Fabulously devoid of mechanical understanding.. and some screwups simply cant be manually unscrewed,, requiring new stuff,,

That's going to throw off the float level.
You could run with it, but you'll need to adjust the float level with the 'tube connected to the drain' method.

So that float been damaged, perfectly good floats develop leaks.
I think you have reason to replace.

Tanks I Iappreciate it very much [smiley=thumbsup.gif]
I was in a bit in denial.

I took out the float. and then saw that it was indeed damaged.

It is best to use a new one.
But I just tried to fix it. :)

What do you thingk, will it hold up?

I made this anvil.

Soldered things apart. And smoothed out.

I soldered it back together. and checked for leaks.

Not my best work, but reasonably successful.

Put it in some water and look for bubbles. If you are bubble free, you can be pleased by your handiwork.
