Title: Re: '86 G rear Brake shoes. Post by Dave on 01/30/21 at 04:03:22 haggis57: I don't know much about the 86 model......I have never seen one. They do have some quirks that got changed quickly, and some parts are unique. It could be the rear brake shoes are different. Maybe you could post a photo or two with some measurements. I have an extra rear brake assembly with good shoes - you can have it if you pay for shipping from Kentucky. Does your bike have a side stand light in the speedometer? There are also some early bikes that have a different gear ration on the crankshaft/clutch than the later bikes. The later bikes got a bit higher ratio......you might be able to get a bit taller gearing if you change the crankshaft gear and clutch basket. |

A couple of the part stores indicate the same thing. 86 G shoes are listed separately, weird. Right now I'm replacing the head gasket. When I pull the rear off ,I'll snap some pics and take some measurements. Thanks for the info, I may take you up on your offer. |

Title: Re: '86 G rear Brake shoes. Post by Ruttly on 01/31/21 at 02:43:34 I’m pretty dam sure the old number supersedes to the new number. Just check EBC listings for both years. Maybe it uses a different spring or something dumb like that. |
