Title: Suggestions on Saddlebags
Post by bjbontrager88 on 05/23/21 at 11:37:27

Hi all,

I'm looking to put saddlebags on my Savage and am curious if anyone has a brand/style they would suggest that fit these bikes well. I want something that's spacious enough and is easy to get into (I currently am using my brother's DrySpec bags and they're annoying to undo and close up every time...).

Thanks!
Bailey

Go big. Several times I bought saddle bags on line, and afterwards wish I would have gotten a little bigger bags.

Marry a woman who doesn't have them.

i have viking bags, they have sat in the sun/rain/wind for about 5-6 years and are still decent looking.  i will say get the ones with the shock cutout as mine rubs the left shock which has damaged the stitching.
their "mounting kit" is kinda crap but it worked.

As a woman, this was a bit hurtful to read.

Willie & Max SB801 series Raptor bags look nice. These fit mine nicely but my bike has been modified so measure your bike before ordering.

JOG gets in a "mood" sometimes.  He's mostly funny and means no harm.
Please accept our apologies on his behalf.

At last.. I got the foto trough!

Its my bike anyhow, I got it whit saddlebags a bib on the tank and a pouch in the front.. and even a motorgard.

And then to sadle bags.. mine is big and have lashes all around and straps, even the bib has lashes.. no of its kind on the pouch in the front.

Its this.. Im kind of get used to it, becuse it fits the style of my bike.

To the cons and pros of all leather things to my bike.. to the pros first.. it looks great.

And then to the cons.. only the saddlebags actualy, they are to big or at least to protruded that I dont even think that any passenger can reach passenger fot pins.

I have Viking and have been very pleased with them after several years BUT their universal mounting bracket does NOT work with our bikes. I had to make some brackets/supports from some 1" steel strap.

It really boils down to what you're looking and for and what you're willing to spend.  Hard vs. soft, permanent vs. removable etc.  Quality bags can be really expensive.
I wanted the right size bag for my bike, lockable and cheap.  I would love to leave the bike naked, but needed the storage since it's my commuter.  Ended up getting Mutazu GA bags.  They're ABS plastic, not fiberglass. Not very sturdy.  But they suit my needs.  https://www.mutazu.com/

And her thicc back end.  Rear turn signals moved to a homemade bracket made from galvanized conduit pipe.

My preference to saddle bags are the Iron Rider bags by Dowco.  They fit on the luggage rack of your bike and attach to a sissy bar.  (Make sure that the luggage rack is big enough for the bag to fit on.)
You can stack the bags on top of one another easily for more storage.

I’ve been looking myself. I just recently purchased a 2019 s40 brand new. I’m having a hard time finding bags that will fit without having to relocate the turn singles.
