Title: Re: S40 Custom Parts Source ? Post by Dave on 08/12/21 at 03:42:05 The S40 was a low production bike, and there is not a lot of specialized aftermarket parts made specifically for the Savage. What kind of "custom" things are your looking for? |

Title: Re: S40 Custom Parts Source ? Post by Eegore on 08/12/21 at 08:11:37 Yeah the Savage is such a low production that the specialty market is also going to be low in production. Blue Collar Bobbers makes some stuff. RYCA just stopped making their hardtail and custom tank but you might be able to find some. Most everything I see for a Savage is custom built. Check the Savage photos thread, there is a ton of custom work in there. |

Title: Re: S40 Custom Parts Source ? Post by Fast 650 on 08/12/21 at 09:22:38 Custom parts for a Savage are done the way custom bikes were built in the 60's, you adapt parts from other bikes or make the parts yourself. The same goes for performance parts. The closest thing to a catalog for performance parts is Lancer's stage 3 cam, Wiseco piston, and VM kit. Anything beyond that and you are in "make it yourself" territory. |

Title: Re: S40 Custom Parts Source ? Post by Hiko on 08/12/21 at 21:11:37 I am in awe of someone wanting hard struts Half the mods on my bike have been to do with making it softer, rear shocks, seat, rear tyre. So much more enjoyable now |

I understand, I am going to experiment with the air bag and tire pressure a little bit and and be more aware of my road choices. Also I have more of a Builder mentality at this point. |

What exactly does this mean? I’ve built a number of bikes (and houses and airplanes) over the years and certainly consider myself a builder, but one goal is always to improve upon the original design, not detract. Being a “builder” doesn’t mean turning the bike into an ass-hammer. Please describe the hard tail airbag…is the airbag on a seat suspension? |
