Title: Exhaust pipe question Post by MaconMan77 on 10/16/21 at 16:02:30 Trying to reinstall stock muffler on my 2000 ls650 after removing POs POS. It doesn't want to slide all the way on. Is this a collar I need to remove or am I missing something? |

When the muffler was originally installed it is clamped down very tightly, very tightly, to keep it attached and to prevent leaks. When that is done the clamp compresses the diameter of the muffler to tighten it. You need to take a tailpipe expander and put it into the muffler and give it a little bump out opening it up a bit. If you don't have one you can get them at most any auto parts store or at Harbor Freight. |

Title: Re: Exhaust pipe question Post by Dan Stafford on 10/17/21 at 20:22:57 I’m having the same problem, I have one of those hose clamp tools to where you ratchet it and then you swing a deal forward and punch it and, then break off the excess. Also I have bought an adapter from the auto zne… does anybody have an accurate measurement of the header ring that the muffler has to fit over? And those tail pipe expanders from the harbor place not my favorite. I already broke two of them. |
