https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10884147/Vicious-hamsters-bred-lab-accident.html

IDK if it's been something everyone has seen. One scientist said
It was so counterintuitive..
I can't imagine the shokkt faces when they were expecting them to be more docile than your average hamster. My girl had the whole setup, the plastic tubes and everything, we raised Teddy Bear hamsters and sold to the pet store. The plastic ball was a hoot. Put the most active one in and watch the show. They can wheel across a room pretty quick.

If someone decides this doesn't belong here, okay. I'm not even gonna mutter sweet nothings under my breath.

But did you read any of that? Can you imagine the absolute horror they must have felt when the results were So, completely Not what they were expecting?
I've never been in That spot, but I have absolutely done things and gotten so Surprised by how it actually went.

Frinstance,, lived on some property and the dude who owned it and I built what we called an Incinerator. It was about half of a thousand gal!on propane tank, standing, with three legs,a grate for the bottom, and, of course, a door to load it. It was out behind our place, maybe forty feet, about the same distance to his little trailer. Loaded it, nice summer day, no wind, dumped gas in and, being a practicing dumbass, flicked I match in.

EauxMuGaawd!! The time between the Dumping Gas and The Flicking of the Match allowed gas fumes to accumulate in the dead air space and when it lit off, the WHUMP shook everything. No windows broke, but he had his door open Really Quick.. Wanting to know

WTF WUZZATT???

In the FWIW department, yes,the fumes were around Me, and the flash went around my lower legs.

I'm pretty sure my dad lost money the day I turned 21. I think I overhead a conversation where he admitted to betting some friends I would not live that long.

Frikkin Evel Knievel at least got paid for doing STEWPID..

I had a Teddy Bear Hamster when I was in college......she was named "Rhoda the Rodent.

She had one of those plastic balls.  She would roll around the house in it.....and the hole time she would keep making "Poo" inside the ball.  Before long is sounded like a Maraca and she had poo stuck all over her back as it would travel up the inside of the ball and fall down and stick onto her back......pretty gross!

My room mates liked to feed her Cheetos and watch her stuff them into her mouth and cheeks for later.....she would get a deformed face from all that food in her mouth.

Rhoda wasn't lonely - she got a lot of attention in a house full of 6 guys.  Somebody was always taking her out of the cage and giving her attention. Her little plastic ball was not where she lived and she had a very nice little cage........after Rhoda took the first trip down the stairs we figured out that the stairs needed to be blocked off when Rhoda was in her little ball!

I watched a TV documentary about dogs/wolfs/foxes that was pretty interesting.  One part of the program told about a Russian study of foxes where they would specifically breed docile fox couples and aggressive fox couples together over a period of fifty years.  The aggressive fox offspring became incredibly aggressive and hostile and just plain nasty - but they continued to look like foxes.  The offspring from the docile foxes became very tame and domesticated and became more like modern dogs - they would wag their tails when the workers came to the cages and loved being held and getting attention......the weird part was their tails lost the curls and their color patterns all changed.
