Title: What a nice ride!
Post by Tocsik on 06/04/22 at 17:05:10

I rode up Coal Creek Canyon to Pinecliffe, then over to Blackhawk and down to Golden.  I stopped and helped a young guy who had just crashed his bike.  Pretty sure his ankle is broken.  He was a young guy in his 20's and probably took the corners too fast.  Most of the Peak To Peak highway has signs warning motorcycles b/c the curves are very deceptive and the speed limit is 40-45 mph.  He was riding with a friend, so I left him in good hands.
On the way down highway 6 to Golden, there are 3 tunnels to go through, with a river running alongside the highway and rock climbers up on the sides of the mountains.  It was a glorious day with temps in the 70's, crystal blue sky.  Even had a small herd of great horned sheep on the side of the road.

Today in Jersey along the coast, clear skies, moderate wind and temps in mid 70's. Car in for servicing with an airbag recall, done tomorrow. I guess a couple days of riding were in cards.

I have a 2014, S40 I picked up a couple years ago, when my Savage was down. It has always been the bike of last resort. But today for the first time in 2 years I actually took it out for a real all day commute ride, Not just from shop to home and back. It is a completely different machine from my other, but fun none-the-less.

I bought this bike for cheap and it had some problems, biggest was petcock. Second was battery. Third was loose handlebars and some sketchy pedal set-up. All quickly fixed. Some cosmetic/hardware upgrades, de-badge, exhaust, bars, mirrors and headlight.

Anyway, a day like today here in Jersey was about as good as it gets. Passed plenty of others who were taking it in as well. For me it  is the first I have ridden 5 straight days in a while.

Anyway, It was a long interstate rip with some local, then a 18 mile run home, all good. This ride will be getting more in mix with regularity.
