It's really disappointing when major newssites fail to note the passing of a major motorsports
hero like Craig Breedlove, first human to 500 and 600mph on land.

Media and governments can be a bit like that, there is possibly a latent anti motorsport feeling among some of them. For example the Brits Knighted Stirling Moss who never won an F1 world championship. The Aussies knighted Jack Brabham who did win F1 world chapionship. The New Zealanders never knighted Denis Hulme, the only NewZealander to win an F1 world championship.

JCS: the fact that Moss got a knighthood and not Surtees really made my blood boil!
Saw Surtees and Hulme many times at Can-Am races at Mosport/St.Jovite. Really tough guys, but Big John was super friendly!
