Title: I've been going to Waffle House quite a bit

If you're unfamiliar with them, the way they operate is unlike any other that I'm aware of. Orders are announced to the kitchen. No ticket to move along with the order. How they know what to put on a plate is beyond me,but it's fun to watch. The food is usually good.
And Today, the internet being Known for its permanence and omniscience, told me
Waffle House has their own Weather Center.

Ain't that Cool?

We got a waffle shop here in town. Breakfast & Lunch only. Open super early
for local farmers/ranchers. They feed you good. Usually good till dinner. A country breakfast served however you want it. My favorite is the bacon waffle , side of hash browns & side of sausage with OJ & coffee. I seem to seek out restaurants that specialize in country style breakfasts. Now I did it, I’m going out for a waffle.

The chili is,IMO, pretty darn good for  Bought from a Restaurant chilli. Their onions aren't Yellow onions and cut so small, Mehhh,, no crunch. When I go for chilli I dice yellow onions, harvest a coupla jalapenos, take a bit of chilli powder and Cumin, and my own crackers. And a dose of the 4 cheese shredded cheese. I'm done with cheddar,, it's greasy and just doesn't tease the Buds,,IYKWIM..
Y'Ain't gonna beat $3.25 for a bowl of chilli.

Took the wife to the waffle shop. Bacon waffle , sausage , hash browns , oj & cup of joe. She had a monster house omelette. Wow they feed you , needed a wheel chair to get to the truck. Definitely skipping lunch ! Maybe a nap !

Having grown up on the Gulf Coast of Alabama, I thought Waffle House was nation wide. I mean it feels like every other street has one here. The disappointment of being unable to find a Waffle House when traveling was immeasurable.

That was my thought as well, their being a national chain.[ch9939][ch65039][ch8205][ch128165]
They’ve been around for as long as I can remember, at least it seemed so, and scattered across the US, at least that seemed so too.
I don’t care much for their hash browns, but otherwise their breakfast is ok.
I have traditionally favored Denny’s though, seems their breakfast food tastes more like when I fix my own, or at least it did the last time I ate their, a few years ago in SC.
Comparing 4 of the places I generally choose from among the large chains are:
Denny’s
IHOP
Cracker Barrel
Waffle House

As far as THE best breakfast available, I choose Classic Diner … a local.  Fits my taste to a Tee.  My favorite item is the Country Scramble, with; 2 large biscuits broken up on the plate, then 2 scrambled eggs on top of that, then sausage gravy poured over all of that.  It’s all about 4” high and covers the entire plate.  Versey got one when he was here a few weeks ago helping us move.   He did not hesitate when asked if he liked it, he did.

A close 2nd goes to Shoney’s, a regional chain, with a store here, and owned by a friend.  Even so, good food is good food.

Forgot to add another place where you can get a really good breakfast, is in SC.  I lived in the greater Columbia area for 25 years, and the Lizards Thicket is where you will get an excellent country breakfast.
My wife, Paula, likes the Lizard as well but for a different reason, they list Mac-n-cheese in the vegetable section of the menu.  She loves that idea.

Sitting at the counter I have been able to watch them do the cooking. Flipping eggs all too often meant a busted yolk.. Bummer.. They don't use a spatula. Just a flick of the wrist and the eggs are flipped. I got a ceramic, nonstick 8" skillet at Ollies and now I don't use a spatula. I also sometimes Don't get All of my eggs in the skillet,, but I'm getting better.

Love their hashbrowns, especially loaded up. The texas patty melt is just delicious.

As for IHOP, I love their country fried steak. Used to be my guilty pleasure. Enormous and included pancakes and sides. Was my go to as a broke teen.
