Title: Tire pressure monitor Post by verslagen1 on 10/30/24 at 10:34:54 I bought these recently and thought I'd share what I thought. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09Y1QM2P5?ref_=pe_386300_442618370_TE_sc_as_ri_0 It's a tire pressure monitor and it talks to your phone about pressure and temperature. Easy to install phone app. You can set limits and it'll warn about under/over pressure. Had it about a month, I'll update after awhile to see how long they last. |

Title: Re: Tire pressure monitor Post by youzguyz on 10/30/24 at 13:12:04 I don't use a phone mount on my bike very often, so I got one with a separate display. I've used this one for 2.5 years on the Rocket. https://www.amazon.com/SYKIK-Wireless-Pressure-Monitoring-Motorcycles/dp/B07BFH9WZ7/ref=sr_1_1?dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.q4cTRl6GtoDA_gEDrEcKS-1Js6mlccWJTqXxpV5v-KpvTJv2rakSHkTSkfIN4CS6WIE2ZwuXH-Nx29MQ-T30hMk-IxCMhTTL5EMiMFNxcSy8JNdUSVrSYBtt-PNUI7bgnZ7LVIrEGqlTQbK3EXhiqQ.0IWXapi2KqPzYkmN0enYIm1n2ASExFAfDCYRT5RmOTM&dib_tag=se&keywords=SRTP300&qid=1730310674&s=industrial&sr=1-1-catcorr |

Yep - Good idea to manually check the tire pressure prior to a ride. However - you never know when you might get a leak while out riding and a tire pressure monitor works while you are on the ride. A few years ago Deb and I were out riding on the R1200, and I remember hearing a strange "puiing" sound from the back tire when I hit some little thing on the road (The kind of sound you get when you run over a small stone and your tire shoots it sideways across the road) - but it seemed louder than normal. We were probably 2 hours from home when it happened and just starting home. About an hour from home the TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) light came on and alerted me that the rear tire was losing pressure. We cancelled the stop for ice cream and headed home - and thanks to the warning we made it home. The tire was down from the normal 42psi to 20 psi when we got home.......there was a large screw in the back tire. Without the tire monitor alerting me I would not have known there was a problem until the tire was low enough to provide a wobbly ride.....and perhaps a crash. Having a TPMS system can come in handy! :) |
