I give local law enforcement a lot of flexibility but if you watch the whole the whole video, the female officer sounds awful condescending.

Ultimately, all the mother had to say is her son was not just walking but rather he was marching to protest the election of the fascist Donald Trump and she would have been fine.

At 8 and 9, I WALKED to school, each day.
It was exactly 1 mile one way.

Only if raining, or really cold in the winter, did Mom give me a ride.

At 10 +, I rode a Bike !!!!!!!

NO fault for that mother.

Here in the Netherlands the training for police officers takes 4 years and you have to do an intelligence test.

In England there are no school crosswalks... no crossing guards... no yellow school busses
You walk to school or ride public transportation if it's more than a mile or two
I walked to school alone at 4 years old
I have US friends that never walked to school
Parental chauffeured their whole childhood

Did they have speed limits changed for when kids were walking to and from school?
I guess they taught kids to look at traffic and decide when to cross. The poor kids today are just not that smart I guess. I don't ever see a kid walking. I don't understand why the zones exist. They didn't when I was a kid.

Yes if she was in violation of the current law then she should be arrested.

In violation of current law. Not the laws - or lack of laws - of the past in towns that aren't the one this happened in with kids that were never hers. My walking to school decades ago in a different location does not apply to this assessment.

Only if she is tried and convicted of a crime that puts her in prison. Jail is not prison so I would say she has not been in prison for this alleged crime, and as such is not deserving.

I don't really think anyone should be exempt from law, but I do think many laws should not exist.
