Just like Wicked.

NOW, because of the backlash,
 Singing will be allowed.

So why didn’t the theaters just say,
(When they found out people were singing along)
Mon no, Tues yes, etc, etc, etc.
  (What ever the schedule)

BECAUSE,
The UL, FDS, WOKE, Socialists,
want it THEIR WAY,
          only !

  (Rocky Horror Picture Show)

According to Cinemark and AMC theatres at 0833hrs Nov 22 2024 singing will only be allowed at "Sing along screenings"

So, at least in CO, specific to AMC and Cinemark, singing is not allowed unless at a screening opened for singing.  Sounds like an appropriate compromise given theatres want to make money.

That's good.

But it ONLY HAPPENED AFTER.

According to the Cinemark purchase archives sing along sessions were available before AMC made announcements about singing along.  AMC sing along advisements are the primary linked source for the Wicked sing-along article and social media cycle.

So I would say, at least in CO, specific to Cinemark, the sing along screenings were scheduled the same as the other musicals they premiered over the years.

AMC has also historically had separate screenings for musicals.  They did this for the re-release of The Rocky Horror Picture Show for instance.

But if we want to play victim, we can blame "the backlash" and not Observe historical theatre behavior.

I have no idea what this thread is about.

AMC re-iterated their policy about being a distraction in theatres when preliminary screenings had some customers complaining about other customers singing along in the theatre at the movie titled "Wicked"

Social media as usual blew it out of proportion and "news" websites picked it up because clicks mean money.

AMC and other theatre chains indicated they would provide sing-along screenings. Cinemark historically does this at musical premiers, and will this time as well.  AMC is 50/50 according to archive screening data.

Conservative and similar websites get click money by utilizing the standard victim posturing of saying that movie theatres will allow singing along, omitting of course that most, again, most, mean at specific sing along screenings and not ALL screenings.  People that want to complain about it will claim that liberal crying changed company decisions.  Which may be true in some cases, but does not appear to be true specific to Cinemark.

This is basically left leaning crying about not being able to sing - which wasn't entirely true, followed up by right leaning crying about people being able to sing - which is also not entirely true.  As usual, the objective truth lies somewhere in the middle and doesn't really matter at all.

When I went to Rocky Horror in 75 or 76 as soon as I had my ticket and was in the lobby,I started scouting for an abandoned Large drink cup. Emptied it out and started hunting popcorn sacks with some left. Filled the cup with popcorn and waited. When it started raining, a coupla young guys behind me started in with the squirt guns. I gave them a look. They continued. I stood up with my big cup of popcorn and lookin as angry as I could muster, thumbed the lid. Eyes got big. Then I drew back and slung it on them.  It was Frikken Glorious!! When they figured out they weren't hosed with cola, they quit shrieking and started laffing.
Then we sang along,together..

I dunno, Row,,did you know Tim? Run around with him? How did he influence your life?
I wonder if more evil people exist today because they grew up in the same town as Jeffrey Dahmer..
Maybe if we all had grown up in Einstein's home town we would all be brilliant.
Interesting point you make.
