Far-Left Politico Unable to Make Payroll Amid USAID Shut Down: More Media Outlets will See “Mysterious Drop in Revenue”

I've been wondering where the money for the View, Kimmel, loser lefty stuff that doesn't generate the revenue needed to pay the bills actually comes from.

You should continue to wonder as a single person making a social media post is far from an accurate assessment of billions of dollars of funding.

A FOX employee on social media says that Politico received USAID funds and now it's the reason staff payroll was delayed?

Politico Pro has sold subscriptions for years to multiple government organizations.  I find it near impossible for such a corporation to have their entire payroll rely on USAID funding alone.  Dump the subscriptions, that's fine, but dump them all - not just the ones Trump and Musk doesn't like.

Yeah Politico's payroll is dependent exclusively on USAID funding and they don't have a penny in reserve.  Makes sense.  They can't possibly have payroll in advance, or get millions upon millions of dollars from other sources right?

I don’t think anyone knows YET exactly how a news org got 8 million taxpayer money at the same time they were a ferocious Biden administration advocate. I’d be curious if the opposite were true: did Drudge or Newsmax for example get some money from USAID. That’s an important piece of the puzzle to figure this out.

Now, I get the theory, that in areas of the world under control of despots, warlords etc, there’s a case to be made that it’s in the best interest of the the US to offer some financial support to media struggling to get the truth out. But Politico? They don’t seem to fall under this umbrella. And, that brings up the issue of just how hard it is to keep money under control, especially when you have appointed bureaucrats controlling the actual purse strings.

I agree.  Is it one-sided, across multiple presidencies?  I could totally see Trump agreeing to let Newsmax have 8 million in tax money a year, but maybe not from USAID, more like tax "incentives" or something.  The same goes for pretty much any POTUS.

I suspect he does which is why he knew the Hunter Biden laptop was real, how he knows only one person was killed on Jan 6 and how he knows Biden was the “big guy” taking his 10% cut from using his VP office to shake down countries to do business with his brother and son.

So the $8 million is the total that the federal government paid for Politico subscriptions. That’s different than USAID giving 8 million dollars to Politico  directly.

I suppose you could say if the federal government had over 2 million employees and 90% are working from home since the pandemic and 100,000 just resigned for 8 months pay, why are we paying another company to keep track of legislation and its impact when we already have a couple million people on the payroll? Couldn’t some of these people do the same thing we are paying Politico for?

In a statement, Politico said it has not taken "a dime" of subsidies or grants from the federal government. Rather, federal agencies use the procurement process to subscribe to Politico Pro, a service that tracks legislation and other policy minutiae. The service made over $100 million in 2023, which made up over half of the company's revenue that year, according to Vanity Fair.

Across the federal government, subscriptions for Politico services totaled more than $8 million last year, according to USA Spending. USAID paid $24,000 to Politico in 2024 for a subscription to E&E, an energy and environmental news service owned by the company, according to the same site.

We shouldn't be worried about Politico then since losing a mere 24,000 stopped their entire payroll.  They have one part-time employee if losing the USAID money caused them to shut down payroll.

As per usual, you get it backwards.
When someone uses ideology that is commie based while they disagree, I call them a commie, because they self identified. I Disagree with people often. Conversations are how disagreement is resolved. That works with most people.
But not commies
