Title: RH Throttle Housing/Switch Post by NXer88 on 04/13/25 at 10:51:40 So I recently acquired a 1995 LS650 from my neighbor and I'm trying to get it up and running. Ideally looking for some of the RYCA parts (rear mount footpegs specifically) but in the meantime I'm going through the bike to get it running again. The throttle housing/switch is pretty toasted. I can't seem to find the replacement brand new anywhere, and tried eBay for a used part with no luck. Is there a switch that would be an easy replacement from a different bike? Would a newer model assembly be identical? |
Title: Re: RH Throttle Housing/Switch Post by verslagen1 on 04/13/25 at 11:26:41 '95 is a difficult year, separate wiring diagrams and a separate section in the FSM. unfortunately, this might mean it's incompatible with other years, you'll need to check. |
Title: Re: RH Throttle Housing/Switch Post by NXer88 on 04/15/25 at 12:38:10 I just need the back half - not the wired front half. But I can't find anywhere to sell just the back half. Everything is as a complete unit. |
Title: Re: RH Throttle Housing/Switch Post by ThumperPaul on 04/15/25 at 14:34:32 I don’t think you’ll find half parts for a 30 year old bike. Anybody selling parts for something that old, wants to sell complete parts. Good luck. |

Then you should be able to find what you need, as if you only need the unwired metal shell... any year should do. But there is a difference in the early years vs. the latest years. So get 1 with the same buttons and switches and the unwired portion should interchange. Post picks and maybe someone has something similar to compare with. |
Title: Re: RH Throttle Housing/Switch Post by NXer88 on 04/15/25 at 18:41:14 It seems that 1995 was a turning point year for the Savage. The switch housing was not compatible with the later years - it looks like the placement of the screws changes after 1995. I'm not sure if a later complete unit will be a simple bolt on to a 1995, but I can track down one and find out. I realize that I will probably have to purchase an entire unit. I'm not expecting anyone to sell me the back half of the unit. This bike has been outside under a cover for almost a year. It's going to take some serious elbow grease to get it back into good shape. |
