Title: Rearset pegs
Post by RycaDoug on 08/07/25 at 15:14:01

Does anyone know of an alternative bolt-on rearset kit that works with the Savage with minimal customizing? Something like what Ryca provided in their CS-1 kit?

Thanks for the suggestion, but they don’t have rearsets for the Savage. Unless rearsets for one of the other bikes will work. Any idea of compatibility?

What you need is the bracket , go between frame and rear set. You get to make one. Mid or rear set uses basically same bracket. No Ryca parts available so I see fabrication in your future. Caferacerwebshop has some nice rearsets , the non folding peg model is very light and very narrow , as the folding are wider and heavier , but both are nice quality.

RycaDoug,

You can follow my rearset construction from here:https://suzukisavage.com/cgi-bin/YaBB.pl?num=1699204635/360 and on.

This build is based on the work of Dave, and he should be given credit for the idea.

If I should do it again, and I probably will, I would move the mounting for the rearset back to coinside with the tube that connects the 2 brackets.

I wish you happy building!

Cheers, Finn Hammer

On my Cafe' bike I have the RYCA made rearset bracket - I used it for a model when building the peg mounts for my Retro Standard bike.

These footpegs will be mounted farther forward than on the Cafe' bike, as I want the bike to be more comfortable for long rides....the handlebars are also mounted in the standard riser mounts to provide a more upright seating position.

In order to allow the pegs to be more forward and lower, there will be outer plates where the pegs will have mounting points that are more forward and lower.  I have not yet completed my footpeg mounts - spring/summer came and it was necessary for me to start doing yard work!

Here is a link to what I have so far:

Thanks y’all. This is great info. I did search the group for rearset & rearsets, and couldn’t find anything of substance. One of the reacons I started the Ryca/Cafe group on FB was to gather info like this for others to easily find.

My bike has a very unique solution to the rearset footpegs.  The PO did not like the Ryca solution, so he made and mounted some custom pegs through the swingarm. [ch128558]
His solution is higher and farther back than the Ryca solution.

The pegs being mounted to the swingarm do take a bit to get used to, as they move up and down slightly when you go over bumps, but I have adapted to that, and they function perfectly.  The swingarm holes have bosses welded on & powder coated nicely.  My guess is he welded a tube in place to maintain rigidity of the swingarm.  If you didn't know better, you might think they came that way, lol.

I would find it a bit spooky to have my feet going up and down as I ride.

That’s one way to do.    :-?
NOT for me , seems to be unsafe. Maybe ok for a passenger , NOT for operator !

I fabbed my own rearset foot controls. They utilize the rear engine mount locations of the frame.

I thought so at first, but they move so little, it is barely noticeable and not the least bit bothersome.

Very nice.  What pegs & levers are those?  From the Ryca kit?

Same as what’s available at that same website.
