Title: Front brake union bolt P/N's?
Post by ChrisH on 12/01/25 at 15:45:54

Replacing the front brake hose on my 1986 Savage LS650-P, so ordered new union bolts P/N 9360-10017 per the parts list, from Partzilla. But, they don't fit! They only screw in about 1/3 or 1/2 way into the master cylinder and the disc casting. The new ones look to have the same thread pitch as the originals, so I'm struggling to figure out wassup.
Is there another part number I should be using??

I suspect someone swapped out the brake system over the years.  The bolts for a 2004 Savage appear to be shorter.

Part #: 09360-10061

Did you save the old bolt to compare lengths?  Do you have a washer on both sides of the banjo union?

Thumper Paul - thanks for your response!
I measured the new union bolt dimensions, they are identical to the originals (M10 x 1.0 x 24mm). Both the 9360-10017 bolts I purchased from Partzilla have the same problem. I purchased a couple of 10mm x1.0 SS nuts from Ace and confirmed the issue. OK, so wassup?
On close inspection, the Partzilla-supplied bolts look to be chromed, not stainless, and they have a lot of irregularities in the threads.

They didn't come in a "Suzuki" parts bag, and I think they must be some cheap, poor quality, aftermarket product. I could chase out the threads using the SS nuts I bought, or get some better quality replacements (at two or three times the price). Given the importance of the front brake, I'll buy some better quality replacement union bolts. My take away from this - be cautious buying hardware from Partzilla.

Oh dang.  I agree it looks terrible.  Burred up and the threads aren’t clean and smooth.

I’ve bought many my parts from Partzilla and never had a problem.  If they were in a Suzuki bag, I suspect Suzuki cheaped out with a poor manufacturer.  I doubt Partzilla is selling cheap counterfeit parts.

EDIT: my bad, you said NOT in a Suzuki bag.

Like you said, you might try cleaning up those bolts and giving them a shot.  Glad you figured it out.  Good luck!

I wouldn’t use those , extremely low quality. Taking a risk of it breaking off when tightened. Just look on eBay.

If you know the thread pitch and dimensions - buy a good replacement from Vehnill USA.
