This stat within this article matters more than we might first think it does:

Today’s 12th graders are now less likely to have had a sip of alcohol in the previous month than the 8th graders of the 1980s.

Today’s 12th graders are now less likely to have had a sip of alcohol in the previous month than the 8th graders of the 1980s.

 This has a negative impact on the economy.  Less DUI deaths means lower demand for nurses and trauma surgeons.  Not to mention school nurses that treat the abused kids from domestic violence.  

 An entire generation won't be depressed from the realization that drinking doesn't automatically get you into sports cars with women in bikinis.  Mental health decline.  

 This doesn't look good.  Kids need to drink like we did in the old days when kids were tough.

The  'less' drinking,

has been replaced by
the "MORE", use of DRUGS.

But seriously, it does have a negative impact. Same thing with fewer teen pregnancies. It’s an indication of less social, person-to-person contact. That’s not a good thing long-term.
