BTW - I checked the tach again, and it seems that "chugging" begins at around 2000 RPMs..... Roll Eyes

Sorry, I'm pretty new.  When you say "chugging" is that the same as lugging?

probably - mine goes chug most definately. If i'm in too high a gear she chugs, i feel it, like as if she's missing but she's not - she sounds like an old tractor.

usually go around town in 3rd, sometimes down to second.

83mm 7500rpm = 20.75 m/s

94mm 6500rpm = 20.37 m/s

If you don't belive me work them out for yourself.

your comments here about the low end of when to change gears has actually helped me alot. now i change into 5th gear around 50mph and don't worry about changing gears at the higher rates of speed.

thanks!

Yep.  You can use 4th all the way to 75 if you want.  I have, but I am usually in 5th at about 45.

i have too, but only inadvertantly. the vibration is too much for me at that speed in 4th as the rearview mirrors become worthless.
