Chain Drive conversion???

Ok, after being scolded (and rightly so) for posting in the wrong forum. I did a search and turned up nothing, so here goes...
Has anyone here ever heard about a Chain drive conversion? I'm lookin to get a little more clearance to run a wider tire, and eventually I've got a few other ideas that would be a little easier to do with a chain instead of a belt
I've been told that there is a kit out there, but so far I've been unable to find anything more than that.

Reply #2 - 01/28/05 at 00:59:53 Suzuki used to (still does??) market a 400cc version of the Savage overseas, which runs a chain instead of a belt ... and apparently those LS400 parts are a direct bolt-on for the LS650 ... maybe someone from Australia or New Zealand can help us out here?

Thanks folks, now I got a couple of options anyhow... I'm thinkin I might see if there's any other 'zukis that the front sprocket would fit from, liek maybe the marauder 800, or the DR600... If I gotta change the rear wheel that's not entirely bad, cuz I'd liek to upgrade to a disc brake, and my old stocker is pretty ratty by now anyhow (I got one of the originals, an '86). Thanks for the help Grin

And I know some of ya don't get why I'd want to drop the belt, but it's more about exploreing options to know what I can do mod wise...

I've been thinking about going to chain only because it gives the opportunity to play with the gear ratio. Other wise the belt is way lazier. One of comming days I'll pull the rr puley and will find a sprocket that has the same bolt patern. After that will find a front sprocket that firs on the countershaft. From this point everything is only alignment /like an example my LTD454 has EX500 engine and is chain driven/ . All the conversion shouldn't cost more than $50-60 in sprockets and no more than $75 in chain.
