I was thinking how cool it would be to get 100,000 miles out of my 2002 Savage. My bike is at ~20,600 now, and the question of what is the most miles any one Savage has ever completed in its lifetime came into my head. Thanks. Gerry

i can't say on my new savage, but if my old machine an 81 gn400 also a thumper is any indicator it will be at least 100,000 miles.. i got 98,000 out of the 400. that with minimal work. much of that time it was my daily driver.

it was also the reason i bought a savage. i love the simplicity and durablity of this fine machine.

that and the ease of chopping it.

Reply #4 - 03/12/05 at 19:55:55 Bought the Savage two years ago with 26,000 on the clock, but it wasn't my only ride. This season it has been bumped up to #1 status so I expect to add 8,000 kms.

Honestly, the most I have seen on LS650 here in Az is approx. 30K. The bike was runninh fine, I did some mods and after that a friend of mine in Las Vegas wanted it, so I sold it to him. I rode it there with a steady speed above 70mph with no problems. Now the bike is a daily rider to work and back.
Overall i think it is not the bikes, it is the owners that fail.

Over on Bert's forum in the early days of it we had a San Diego rider who commuted a couple hundred miles a day and had 90K+ Miles as I recollect when the timing chain adjuster wore out or broke. He went to a HD sportster and fixed the adjuster and last I read his wife was riding it. It would probably be on the archieved part of Bert's site as it was probably late 90's early 2000 time frame.
