I have had the idea in the back of my mind for awhile now to get a set of sportster wheels (very cheap on ebay...sometimes with the brakes still on them, and it has a disc brake on the rear) ...no spokes to mess with or adjust, besides I like the look of the stock mag wheel on the sportster. The Yamaha SR 500 had the same type of wheel back in 89. The sportster rear wheel is a 140/90/16, so the width should be OK. Get a shock with a little more length. The larger wheel/tire combo would jack up the overall ratio which would let the Savage cruise at a lower rpm on the highway...and there would be other rear belt pully's to choose from if you did not like the ratio. Anyway, sometime, maybe.
