What tool to remove spark plug?

sorry for the noob question but what mm size socket wrench do i gotta buy to remove the 97 suzuki savage spark plug??
i thought they were all the same size so i borrowed the one from my friends 03 Yamaha R1 but its too big and it wont go in the hole... any help would be great thanks.

i use an 18 mm deep wall socket.

Yes, You are right - R1 is using CR... sp. plug and it takes 16 mm / 5/8" /socket. Savage originally is using DPR... sp. plug and takes 18mm socket /as Sluggo mentioned/. Once You remove the original sp. plug it will be up to You do You want to stick with the original make and model plug or You will go to something different- check the technical corner for crossreference. If You use some other manufacturer sp. plug it might take 16mm .

I use a piece of electrical conduit shaped to 18mm....couldn't find a real one locally.

ok so the 18mm deep socket fit perfectly........... only one problem.... the hole is kinda deep so my wrachet wont ready the socket!!!
now i gotta go buy a 3/8 extention.... but im pretty sure thats all id need.

i meant *fit the socket
