The new injection is working, so I'm hopeful. Maybe if I hire on at the shop that wants me (REALLY wants me) to work for them, I can get an employee discount on a nice used CBxxxF or such...I loved my 73 CB350F I had (and killed) in college. My kind of shop, my tattoos can be visible, I can grow back my beard, and, best of all, I don't have to cut my hair! Salary, plus commission, plus health insurance, and it's less than 20 minutes away via the backroads. What could be better? Getting paid to be a longhaired greaseball! Life is looking up!

Ha!  I hope you get the job...sounds great!  I had to go look at your profile to see where you were located cuz you sound exactly like the guys where I take my bike when I need help.

I love the atmosphere there...I'm a bit of a wallflower and it's easy to disappear among the tires and tool boxes and just listen to them banter and talk shop.  I love watching them work.

I'll find out in the next few days, Wednesday at the latest. Shop was so busy the manager didn't have much time to spend with me Thursday. I'll still be on worker's comp for up to a year post-hire, so, the state will pay for my gas. I went dressed like a normal person, long shirt, hair tied back...the manager was wearing a t-shirt that would have barely qualified as rags around my house.  Grin Perfect. Maybe I should have worn one of my battery acid ruines t-shirts and roe the bike instead of taking the truck. Probably would have started same day. If it doesn't pan out, I'll just try some of the other shops oin the area. Even the authorized HD stealership wants me. Funny, since I don't know diddly about latemodel HDs. And I don't fit the current HD "image".  Roll Eyes

Do they need a second greaseball?  I could handle that too, even though I just shaved off my beard again....But I am growing my hair (?) and have a couple tats, too.

Good luck.

I'll pray for your back!

Now to get your mind off the pain,  tell me about your 'collector' cars over the years!  I'm currently down to none myself, though I've had a few desirable beaters and daily drivers over the years...yep, daily as long as there wasn't salt on the roads:

69 GTO
69 Falcon

Mustangs:

66 vert
66 fastback (total beater rustbucket)
68 vert
71 and 73 Mach1
68 390 GT vert
68 GT500KR fastback

Got rid of the last cause I couldn't pass up an offer.  Sold all but the first one for more than I paid for them and the last 2 for more than I had in 'em...including gas, insurance and chilidogs at the track !!!

Wife still has her 92 Summer Special.  Which one do I wish I hadn't got rid of?  Even though the the KR was awesome (burnouts as long as you wish), I couldn't mod it much without destroying it's value, I miss the rustbucket the most!

Collector cars? You have a couple hours? I've had 75 cages and over 100 bikes in the last 18 years. Buy them cheap, clean them up, auction, trade or straight sell them off. Gave a few away as well.

The only ones I still have are 2 Bugs, a 1946 CJ2A, a 1949 Dodge 1/2 ton truck, a 69 dodge 1/2 ton truck, and an 85 Celica GT-S (basically a 4 banger Supra).

Current bikes are 96 Intruder 800 and 98 LS 650, both cutomized to some degree.

Wish I still had : 57 Chrysler 300 Hemi, 65 GTO convertible, 1919 HD board tracker with fore and aft flat twin (stolen), both Chiefs 1936 and 1938 (both stolen), and both 1928 Scout hillclimbers (one stolen, one auctioned to help a downed rider's family).

I made a list of what I'd had back in 1995 when I was bored at Navy "A" school.

My daughters want the bugs, my wife wants the 65 Goat vert and I'll take the CJ2A  !!!

I currently wheel a heavily built 01 TJ, love Jeeps.....though I find it confined more and more to bad weather and 'it MIGHT rain today' weather.  The doors are off for the year but the top hardly goes down anymore cause the 'Savage' is more 'open' !  Unless I'm out with the family, of course.....

Keep us up on your back.
