This 2000 Shadow VLX600 has been stored in a ratty house in our neighborhood for 3 years. The front tire was flat and the battery was dead. Took 6 hours, change of fuel, carb cleaning, and a new battery. The bike is now tip-top. It looks brand new.
1,631 miles. $750. Still pinching myself. Sorry for the dim garage pics, but time I got to photoing the bike it was dark outside.

Now did I mess up or what. You can't see the Savage in the background! Best you can see is the handlebar sticking up behind the VLX. DARN this might get me kicked off the site...
At least you also can't see the HD.

I rode my friends 600 Shadow before I bought the Savage. I wanted that bike so bad, I offered him $3500. That was in 2003. His is a 2000 model as well. He turned it down. I bought the Savage, and a week later, he sold the Shadow for $3000. Needless to say, I haven't talked to him too much.n Bobo, When my financial situation gets better, I'll offer you some real money for that bike. I'd like to have one, and give the Savage to the wife.

Just went out for a ride with the wife. The bike is extremely comfortable for both rider and passenger, but it's a little underpowered riding two up.
One up, plenty of power but not a slingshot like the Savage.

I was put in a round room and told to pee in the corner. After 2 weeks I couldn't hold it in no more. So they sent me back here.
Same thing.

$750 for a near new VLX?!? I almost bought one, but figured 4 gears weren't enough. Sure wish we still had the wife's old 450 Rebel, 6 gears was almost sufficient.
Shadow suspension still putting the Savage suspension to shame?

Suspension is first class. I need to search this site to see if anyone has tried different Savage spring options.
Of course the bike feels 500 pounds or better, and it could use a lower first gear.
He also had a little 4 wheel drive mitsu-dodgy that my friend bought for $250 - everything worked on it.
The man's health had degenerated to where he could not wrench on anything anymore, so the stuff was just sitting and he decided to clean up. Right place at the right time.
He saw all my cars and bikes by my house and figured I would take good care of his bike.
