Well, that's an original way to get rid of the cheap trash rear shocks. I like it. Except for the spindly, probably stock front suspension. That thing would be beyond wicked with a blacked out springer, girder, or Chief leaf spring front end...
Originality is definitely preferably to the "catalog ordered, billet bolt-on" OCC lemming HD garbage wagons. And following the " I don't know or care what bling-bling is, spray it flat black and ride the hell out out of it" philosophy is, to me, the epitome of form AND function. Chrome won't get you home, but black will get you back. Don't know or care why, but, from personal experience, it's true.
Change out the front end and add a suspended seat, and I'd ride that bike. For those who've never ridden a rigid, they are more stable to ride. They lean further, they corner more smoothly, they have much less frame flex/oscillation, they stop considerably more stabilely, and have the same or better comfort level as a Savage with suspension. If your back is in good shape, try replacing your shocks with a set of steel or extruded aluminum struts. Now where did I stash that BSA girder front end? Oh to ride a bike with no front end dive under braking... -WD
