Very nice physics demonstration! I wish I had that pic back in college when I was teaching Physics 101 labs. Wild graphic results are soooo much better than vectors and force diagrams...

Three people injured. Not bad, considering.
If the middle car were a bike the rider would be jelly. Which simply means you cannot allow yourself, as a biker, to be caught in the middle.
I tend to get fascinated by the applied physics of collisions. Stems from things like watching a car broadside a pickup truck twenty feet in front of me and my YammerHammer and seeing the 3500 pound+ truck knocked into a 270 degree spin. Tried to guess how far that car would have knocked my 350 pounds total.
