A Savage in a Sea of Harleys

Well the move to Florida is on, the wife and I bought a house with a oversized detacted garage Cheesy

just south of Daytona in Port Orange. Looks like I'm headed to the center of Harley Davidsonville, I'll be a lone Savage in a sea of Harleys!!!. Over the last few months all I have been doing is painting, cleaning and tossing out. This last week I tackled the garage/shop and tore down all the metal and wood working machines that are my babies and got them ready for the move. I'm amazed at how much junk I've picked up in the last 14 years, guess it is good to clean house once in a while. I'm getting one more ride in this weekend, saying goodbye to all the wonderfull twisties in the area, plan to take a lot of pictures and hit all three covered bridges that are in the area. Looking forward to the whole thing but will miss this area where I've grown up. :'( It will be strange not to have snow in the winter but it means that I will be riding in December Grin

, humm, I can live with that. If there are any Savage riders in the Daytona area interested in getting together after I'm settled in let me know, I'll be up for a ride. Ed L.

I just moved to the space coast of Florida from New England so i can relate...... i miss the twisting turning back country roads but riding year round down palm tree lined lanes will more than make up for it...... just be careful going over the causeways in the wind cuz these Thumpers are pretty light and you'll feel like you're about to be blown into the river...... i plan on visiting friends and family in the middle of winter to remember why i left in the first place...... i think what i'm gonna miss most of all is the change of seasons...... spring rolls around down here and you can't really tell the difference...... but it sure beats sitting around in the dead of winter drinking beers and watching Easy Rider for the millionth time and longing for good riding weather......... it won't ever be too cold for me to ride down here........ and these thin bloods that whine when it hits 60 need to drag there butts to work when it's a single freakin' digit outside before they can complain about cold....... good luck with the move and let me know when you get here and maybe we can meet halfway between here and Daytona and go for a blast...... say in January or February 8)

Suzuki just brought out the first one here I know of, a 400 & I haven't seen much coverage on it. I think the marketing types don't know how to sell it since it's not a cruiser or a sportbike. I'd like to try one. Looks like fun.

I'm in Melbourne, just south of Cocoa Beach, home of Major Anthony Nelson and Jeannie..... Rte A1A will be your absolute favorite road in Florida...... go far enough south and you end up in Key West after 4 glorious hours on the overseas highway...... you absolutely will love it down here....... i just booked a flight home as we speak, though, cuz i'm a parrothead and going to see Jimmy at Great Woods, NOT the tweeter center....... like it says below, i'm livin' and dyin' in 3/4 time....... once you're settled you won't understand how people can live in a place where you can't ride year round...... not to rub it in to all you Thumpers who just enjoyed your first ride of the year, honest, but i've put on over 2,000 miles since i got here in March....... i went from a 3 hour commute to work in Boston to 11 minutes on a motorcycle down palm tree lined roads....... and on a good morning i see my favorite sign in the neon world - HOT NOW outside the Krispy Kreme........ nice to know i'll have a new riding buddy in a couple of months....... 8)

Changes in lattitude, changes in attitude, a hour commute was killing me, couldn't imagine a 3 hour one with the drivers around Boston, almost as bad as New York drivers. Closing is beginning of June and then I am moving my shop and boat, looking at three trips up and down I 95 this summer. To quote a friend, "it has begun, therefore it must end". Ride Safe, Ed L.

Clve, there are 2 shops in the Seattle area that sell European bikes. One of them carries THE coolest SM style dual sport I've ever seen. About $12K USD. The dirt specialist at work still has a glazed look to his eyes and drool rolling out his mouth over one that popped by the shop last week. The bike owner rode wheelies around the parking area, and did burn-outs against the shop truck. His tire was just about toast, he wanted to finish off that one before we swapped it out for him.
