Just sealed the deal on an
'01 VStar 1100 Classic. It has 5K on it, nary a scratch nor ding. Comes with Cobra straight pipes and has Cobra intake and rejetted to match. Has windshield and soft leather bags.
It is sweet. Sounds like a lion roaring, handles incredibly well. Comfy ride with a big arsed seat. Factory floor boards and heel-toe shifter.
The image below is some guys bike that I googled up, but it's the same color scheme. Mine still has a the pillion seat and back.
The Savage was just a little too hard seated for me. I want something I can ride 400 miles and still be able to sit down.
How do they compare?
Well, out of the hole, the Savage holds it own. Once rolling, however, the VS1100 stays much smoother feeling, as you'd expect.
Cornering? The VS1100 wins hands down. The LS650 seemed to have a lurchy kind of feel on tight corners. the VS1100 follows track like it's on a rail (that's what sold me). The VS1100 was almost as easy to steer as my old beloved RD350. I was very surprised with that.
Seat? Hah! Even the factory seat on the VS1100 feels like a Lazy-Boy compared to the LS650's fanny muncher.
I'll be selling the LS650 but will remove the GTS seat and offer it here first. I've also got some never installed ME880s that I'll list here later as well.
In the meantime, I've got to check out a VS1100 forum I found.

I'd still like to check in here now and then. Maybe as a Savage Emeritus?
