I would love to dump the drum. To get rid of the horrible rear wheel squeak I have found several ways to shut it up for a while I am just sick of the fix for a while mentality. it goes like this you are approaching the stop light ready to cruise up looking cool as heII then SSSSSSCCCRRRRREEEeeeEECCCCHHHHHH!!!!! darn THAT SUCKS, not to mention much better braking. Mine is adjusted where it should be and the pads look almost new and it still sucks. I know most braking is done by the front wheel. If your smart you use both almost all the time! Just to be ready. 8)

It is that belt drive that sort of dictates what can be done to the rear wheel. You have to change the hub to change the brake....need to go out and buy a machine shop.

I don't have a lot of experience but I believe the sportster swap could be done. It would not doubt take a bit of fabrication and such but I think it is doable.
The overall dimensions of the two bikes are not that much different.

You could fit a Sportster wheel, rotor, pulley in the Savage swing arm. That's the easy part... just install "backwards".

Unless you are a stellar welder, it'll be rough to hang the caliper. Master cylinder mount? Juice brake pedal? Plumbing? Caliper mount?

Which caliper? 1, 2, 4, or 6 piston? Stock or aftermarket? Upgrade the front to match?

Sounds too much like work...
